Madonna has been up to more than simply drinking rosé, taking rose petal bubble baths, and posting strange, misguided, and often tone-deaf content to social media throughout the course of lockdown. The singer/dancer/actor/director/author has also been spending her time collaborating on a new project — the likes of which she just announced over Instagram Live last night. We are, at long last, getting a "happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad, and ugly" Madonna biopic co-written by filmmaker Diablo Cody and the Material Girl herself. The pair has been collaborating, says Madonna, for the past few months on a movie script “about my struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man's world as a woman, and really just the journey."The film won’t only focus on Madonna, however, but will also give space to some of the artists and contemporaries she interacted with at the start of her epic, decades-long career. "We do talk about Andy [Warhol], and Keith [Haring], and Jean-Michel Basquiat and my friend Martin Burgoyne and the whole coming-up-as-an-artist in Manhattan, downtown, Lower East Side in the early '80s," Madonna said. "One of the best times of my life, and one of the worst times. I hope I can portray or express what a thrilling time that was for me in every way." She’s also promised to pay tribute to the influence of Ballroom artists like Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza and Luis Xtravaganza and the impact they had on one of her biggest hits, ‘Vogue.’[video_embed id='1893502']RELATED: Madonna called Canada boring and Canadians aren’t impressed[/video_embed]"It's not a musical,” explained the pop star, “but there's a lot of music, and there's a lot of the actress who will play me singing my songs, but in places where she's supposed to be singing."And then there’s the star’s mixed-reviews movie career — from the beloved
Desperately Seeking Susan to her much-maligned ode to Wallis Simpson,
W.E. In the middle lies Madonna’s turn as Eva Perón in
Evita, a subject that Madge and Cody hint at touching on in the film. "I think I had a few nervous breakdowns worrying that I was going to be fired every day," revealed Madonna. “[Andrew Lloyd Webber] wasn't, he was not nice to me. I'm not sure he even wanted me in the movie."Webber’s team sent a statement to
Entertainment Weekly, saying that "[Madonna] must have Andrew confused with somebody else. Andrew and Madonna had a very smooth and productive working relationship on the
Evita film." Wow. The script isn’t even done and already this movie is looking
spicy. You can watch the entire Instagram Live session below.
