Some of us are already paranoid about technology (come on, our cellphones show us ads for something we just spoke about) but prepare to get overly suspicious. The first trailer for Superintelligence is here and it lets it be known that technology is "studying our every move."The new comedy about surveillance stars Melissa McCarthy as Carol Peters, a single woman described as “the most average person on Earth." That is, until Carol's TV, phone, computer and microwave turn into a "technological superintelligence" that's trying to decide whether or not it wants to destroy all of humanity.
James Corden is the voice of the artificial intelligence (A.I.) but it tells Carol that it's actually not Corden. "I'm not James Corden, Carol. My analysis shows that hearing James Corden's voice would calm you," the A.I. tells McCarthy's character before letting her know that it will spend the next three days hanging out with her. When Corden's voice tells her that the world could end in three days, Carol goes out to make things right with her lost love played by Bobby Cannavale. Amid the new chaos Carol is pursued by some type of agents (one being her real-life husband Ben Falcone) and enlisted to... save humanity. The A.I. tells Carol that its intention is to solidify its theory about humanity. "If things don't go well, I'll destroy the plant. I'll just blow it up," the A.I. tells Carol.  It's her mission to prove to Corden's character that people are worth saving.[video_embed id='2073917']MORE MOVIE NEWS: John Krasinski’s ‘Quiet Place’ is getting a spinoff [/video_embed]Falcone's agent character watches McCarthy's Carol share a kiss with her lost love and reflects, "This is nice. These are nice people. It's not like the Russian mob. I guess on the other hand this thing could destroy the earth."This is just the latest of many movie collaborations for McCarthy and Falcone. The husband-wife duo have worked together on movies such as Bridesmaids, Identity Theft, and Life of the Party.Superintelligence, which is pending a Canadian release, also stars Jean Smart, Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry, Veep regular Sam Richardson and Deadpool actor Karan Soni.
