The star power on Sony’s upcoming action thriller
Bullet Train is through the roof. Especially now that
A Star is Born best performer Oscar nominee herself, Lady Gaga, has boarded this journey.
According to Collider Lady Gaga has signed on to star with Brad Pitt in the movie from director David Leitch. She joins a slew of other actors who have been previously confirmed to participate including Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Zazie Beetz, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Masi Oka and Michael Shannon. While the details surrounding Gaga’s role are being kept top-secret, sources tell the publication that she has agreed to a small, supporting role rather than a leading part. Still, going from a Bradley Cooper movie to one starring Brad Pitt is quite the accomplishment for the performer, who has been working on her acting skills since making her debut in the 2015 edition of
American Horror Story,
Hotel. As fans may recall, she won a Golden Globe for her role on that series.Meanwhile the
Chromatica singer’s next confirmed leading role is in the upcoming movie
Gucci. The Ridley Scott project tells the story of Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga), the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci—a.k.a. the grandson of fashion designer Guccio Gucci—who famously plotted to kill her husband. Right now Gaga is the only star officially attached, although Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are all rumoured to be involved.
Bullet Train is based on Kotaro Isaka’s Japanese novel
Maria Beetle, and it revolves around a group of five assassins with different motives who are all on a high-speed train to Tokyo. While on route, they discover their missions all have something in common. The movie picked up steam earlier this year when Pitt signed on, coming in hot off his own award winning streak in January and February for his comeback role in
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
Bullet Train has been in production since October but it kicked off filming earlier this week in Los Angeles. At time of press no official release date has been scheduled.[video_embed id='2079125']BEFORE YOU GO: Rockefeller Christmas tree getting mixed reaction [/video_embed]
