When it comes to getting the job done, there's no stopping an Angel—or in this case, a Bosley—just ask Elizabeth Banks. Hot off the heels of her
Charlie's Angels reboot, the actress and director is already eyeing her next project: Universal's
Invisible Woman.On Tuesday,
it was reported that Banks was given the green light to star in, and direct, a new film based on Universal's classic monster character, the Invisible Man. No stranger to ~perfect pitches~ (see what we did there?), the film is the product of an original pitch by Banks, and she's clearly not letting the
Angels' lukewarm box office results get to her.Though the news of the film’s development was released today, plot details on the project are, well, invisible... for now. We DO know that
The Girl on the Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson penned the top-secret script, and Banks and her husband, Max Handelman, will produce it through their Brownstone Productions (the company behind the
Pitch Perfect movies, and
Charlie’s Angels).If a new Invisible Man (or Woman) film sounds familiar, that's because it is—just a few weeks ago, Universal debuted
the trailer for their upcoming 2020 film
Invisible Man, starring
The Handmaid's Tale's Elisabeth Moss. Despite sharing similar titles and source material,
Variety reports that Banks'
Invisible Woman will be “very different” from the science fiction horror film, and that there's no crossover potential between the films.With that in mind, it’s hard to know for sure what to expect from Banks'
invisible mysterious new movie, but based on her past directing projects like
Charlie’s Angels and
Pitch Perfect 2, coupled with her acting contributions to
The Hunger Games series, we’re expecting some serious themes of girl power (hello, the film
is titled the
Invisible *Woman*). Given that Banks' film will likely exist in a different cinematic universe than the new
Invisible Man, there's also a possibility that it will stray from the horror and sci-fi genres, and lean more towards an action film, or even a dark comedy. After all, Banks’ Instagram bio
does describe her as an “Amateur Goofball.”
