You couldn’t go anywhere in 1995 without hearing or seeing the influence of the now-iconic movie Clueless starring Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, Stacey Dash and Paul Rudd and now, actress, comedian and host Nicole Byer is paying homage to the '90s classic with her own little re-imagining of the opening scene on the movie's 25th anniversary. Nicole, naturally is playing Cher, and fam, she “nailed it.”The teen comedy, which was inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma, hit theatres way back on July 19, 1995 and was not only was a massive hit at the box office, it also boasted a killer soundtrack, had everyone saying “As if!” and literally created an era of fashion that steered away from the grunge look into preppy and put together. Clearly its impact shows no signs of slowing down all these years later.Set to the track “Kids In America,” which also heralded the opening scene of the movie, Nicole's homage has her dressed exactly like Cher Horowitz—complete with blonde wig, yellow striped pleated skirt, preppy vest, a bag that she may or may not have made from the fur of a Collie—and even driving what appears to be the famous white Jeep. To quote the movie, she's "a total Betty.”
Actor John Milhiser joins Byer to play Dionne (originally played by Stacey Dash)  wearing the famous “Dr. Seuss” hat (which he impressively made from black tape and computer paper ), and the two they drive around Beverly Hills, not exactly pausing at the stop signs.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: How to get a fun 'Clueless' mani[/video_embed]The nostalgic clip really does get the looks right, and the film's costume designer Mona May, and director Amy Heckerling, recently spoke with Variety about the lasting endurance of the lead character's memorable fashion choices.According to May, they tried several different outfits for Cher for that opening scene, but the yellow suit was an immediate hit. “We had Alicia (Silverstone) try on this yellow Dolce & Gabbana suit. It was off the rack. I had to pay for it. In the fitting, everyone just went, ‘Yes.’ We’d found THE outfit,” she told Variety. She added that in order for Cher and Dionne to complement one another, Dionne’s black and white skirt suit with the lapels was chosen specifically so the two girls could shine. This isn’t the first time that the Clueless universe has been reimagined and we don't imagine it will be the last. Back in 2014, Iggy Azalea recruited Charli XCX for her tune “Fancy” and the music video was a major nod to the movie about the Beverly Hills socialite with a heart of gold.[video_embed id='1998406']BEFORE YOU GO: Lupita Nyong'o, Naomi Campbell appear in new trailer for Beyoncé’s ‘Black Is King’[/video_embed]
