Production on Olivia Wilde’s upcoming thriller Don’t Worry Darling has been shut down. The historical drama was filming in Los Angeles when a member of the production team received a positive COVID test result. Production was suspended immediately and is expected to remain closed for 14 days.Deadline was first to report the shutdown and confirmed that the cast and crew had been following strict COVID protocols, including masks on set and regular testing. It was during one of these scheduled tests that a member of the team came up positive. Deadline reports that the positive test did not belong to any of the main cast members, which include Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan and Kiki Layne, but the website notes that the person who did test positive was in close proximity to the actors. No other cast or crewmembers have tested positive at this point.Don’t Worry Darling marks Olivia Wilde’s second major directorial effort following the successful and well received Booksmart in 2019. Starring Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, the film followed two academically inclined best friends as they spent their last night of high school making up for all the partying they missed out on. The comedy earned Feldstein her first Golden Globe nomination.Don’t Worry Darling reunites Wilde with her Booksmart producer Katie Silberman. The two women wrote the new film together (Silberman previously penned the rom coms Set It Up and Isn’t It Romantic). Details have been scarce, but we do know that Don’t Worry Darling is set in “an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert and centers on a housewife who uncovers a disturbing truth about her seemingly perfect life.” Pugh plays Alice, the housewife at the center of the film. Styles has been cast as her husband and was added to the film after actor Shia LaBeouf had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts. Layne and Chan were the most recent additions to the cast and play characters named Margaret and Shelley. Layne is also stepping in later in the process after Dakota Johnson left the film due to scheduling conflicts.Wilde has been celebrating the film on her Instagram page, including sharing a marker from the first day on set on October 15. The actor-turned-director also uploaded a sweet picture of her daughter Daisy visiting the set.

Fans have also been sharing pictures from production which show the main cast in their time period costumes. The paparazzi pictures taken of the cast and crew show everyone involved in the production wearing masks whenever possible. Don’t Worry Darling is the latest film that has been forced to suspend production following a positive COVID test. Matt Reeves’ The Batman was forced to pause production after Robert Pattison, who plays the Caped Crusader, tested positive for COVID in September. Netflix halted production last month on the celeb-filled set of The Harder They Fall, which stars Idris Elba, Regina King, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfied. Elba was one of the first major celebrities to step forward with his own positive COVID diagnosis back in the spring. Jurassic World: Dominion was also paused in October after multiple crewmembers tested positive. Warner Bros. spent an excess of $5 million on additional COVID safety measures above what is required in the UK where the blockbuster franchise is being shot.[video_embed id='2051990']Related: KiKi Layne and Gemma Chan join Olivia Wilde’s new film[/video_embed]
