Brad Pitt is on a roll. As if there were a single person in Hollywood (or on the rest of the planet) who doesn’t know who he is, the actor legit wore a name tag to the Oscars luncheon this week—maybe as a way to call attention to the fact that he really is a whole new person these days or to further win awards season with a humility and self-deprecation that everyone singing his praises. The 56-year-old star sported the laminated badge, which read, “Brad Pitt. Actor in a Supporting Role, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood," on his suit jacket while he chatted up fellow nominees like Cynthia Erivo and his Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio (or LDC, if you're Pitt). They—obviously—were not wearing name tags but they seemed to get a kick out of Pitt’s humble nature. As did the rest of the Internet. The actor has taken his aw-shucks persona to the next level as the awards train for his role in the Quentin Tarantino film chugs along. Following a rough few years that included child abuse allegations (of which he was cleared) and his very public separation from Angelina Jolie, Pitt earned a lot of goodwill with fellow celebs and fans alike, starting at the Golden Globes. It was there, during his acceptance speech, that he made fun of his own acting range.“Let's be honest, it was a difficult part,” he said of his role in Once Upon A Time. “A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn't get on with his wife. It was a big stretch.”Then at the SAG Awards, he joked that he was going to make the trophy a part of his new Tinder profile. That speech, along with the mini Brad-and-Jen reunion, also helped to rehabilitate his image and make audiences fall for him all over again.[video_embed id='1886066']Oscar hopefuls gather for the nominees luncheon[/video_embed]Pitt is considered a favourite to win some hardware at the upcoming February 9 Oscars now that he’s won swept the other trophies for his supporting role of stuntman Cliff Booth including the Globe, AACTA International Awards, SAG Awards and a handful of others. The Academy Awards don’t always follow suit, of course, but with a humble and human campaign like this, it certainly seems like 2020 is Brad’s comeback year. The 92nd Academy Awards air Sunday, Feb. 9 at 8 pET on CTV.
