Hey girrrrrrl, do you need some of that BKE in your life? That’s Big Ken Energy, of course, because the internet’s boyfriend, Canadian Ryan Gosling, has got that “Ken-ergy.” That’s what he revealed at the premiere of his latest flick, The Gray Man. Yes, Gosling himself used that word when talking about his upcoming movie based on the Mattel doll, Barbie, where he plays, of course, Barbie’s boy-toy Ken.

When The Gray Man costar Chris Evans joked that Ryan’s character in the film is a “Ken-Doll,” Ryan took the jab in stride. “I'm proud of that," he joked. "I have that Ken-ergy that you can feel, obviously.”

"I still feel like the Ken-ergy is alive."

When asked to explain what “Ken-ergy” entails, he simply replied, “You have a Ken in your life, and you know that Ken has Ken-ergy."

But if you’re expecting a Barbie story akin to Aqua’s bubblegum pop song, Ryan reveals that the Greta Gerwig script and direction are taking the story in a new direction.

“Ken's got no money, he's got no job, he's got no car, he's got no house. He's going through some stuff."

Of course, when photos from the set of Barbie hit the internet last month, they caused quite the stir. He told People that he’s used to this kind of online attention, being the internet’s boyfriend and all, and that the attention doesn’t phase him.

"Well, the internet has been trying to break me for years. It gave me no other choice."

He continued, “We've been having so much fun making this movie and it felt nice to see everyone else start having as much fun as we are. I can't wait for the film to come out and for that to continue."

Speaking with Variety, he said that the bright fluorescent costume choices for the movie make him and all the other Kens with Ken-ergy in this world feel seen.

“Finally! It’s happening! I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see this,” he quipped.  “Gotta do it for the Kens. Nobody plays with the Kens.”

Ryan appears alongside other famous Canadians in the movie. Simu Liu and Michael Cera are also set to star alongside Margot Robbie as the titular character. Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, and America Ferrera round out the cast. It’s set to open in July of next year.
