Kevin Hart translates his IRL full-time job (being a parent) to the big screen in his new heart-filled comedy, Fatherhood.

The movie is based on the true story of a single father navigating new parenthood after his wife's unexpected death one day after their daughter's birth. A pretty tragic concept, but with Hart at the helm, he brings levity to the situation where he can.

Hart had previously said on Instagram that one of the great things about filming Fatherhood was having his kids, 16-year-old Heaven Hart and 13-year-old Hendrix Hart onset with him.

“They helped me pull from a lot of those emotional strings that I had to pull from. I mean, having them there and trying to give a lesson while at the same time embracing a true story, you know, it was a nice little game I was playing," Hart told Etalk's Liz Trinnear.

"Some of the scenes, just the thought of not being there for my kids or not being present or available. It did make me well up. It did give me some lows that I desperately needed to pull some of this stuff off," he added.

Hart said that he thinks his kids got to see what they "should really be thankful" for and he was "truly just humbled" by what he has now with his kids because of the story the movie tells.

He reflected on the fact the film is based on the true story of Matt Logelin and his daughter Maddy. Hart was happy to bring the story (which Logelin wrote a memoir on in 2011) to life for everyone to see.

"From Matt, him sharing this story and me being present to see it in real-life time, it was mind-blowing to see that type of strength in an individual, to see someone be able to stand tall with his little girl that made it through such a chaotic stage of life and is now here to not just tell a story, stand through it, smile after it and know that his wife ultimately is proud of the man that he’s become and the little girl he’s raised," Hart said.

"It was a lot, it was a lot to play off of, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I’m glad my kids could be there to experience it all with me.”

In the movie, Kevin's on-screen daughter, Maddy, is played by Melody Hurd and she told Liz about their dance-offs onset. But we gotta know: who is the better dancer?

“We’re equal. We’re equal,” Melody said with some hesitation. Kevin did not agree.

“Equal? Equal? I used to destroy you onset when we would dance when I did the backpack thing, when the 'Renegade' thing came out, and I did that,” Hart said.

TBH, we're still not quite sure who to believe.
