Summer is just around the corner, but Camila Cabello fans are already looking towards the fall now that new stills of her playing Cinderella have hit the internet ahead of the movie’s worldwide September launch.

On May 13, Prime Video released two photos of Cabello playing the fairytale character in Kay Cannon’s updated take, which also stars heavyweights like Idina Menzel, Billy Porter and James Corden. The photos offer a peek at Cabello’s “rags” as well as the slightest glimpse of her fairy godmother gown, which appears to be a strapless ditty with lots of glittery embellishments.

In the background of the first photo, in which Cabello appears to be singing, there are also fabrics and dresses draped everywhere, giving the impression that writers really dug into the character’s passion for design. And in the second the performer is staring into the eyes of her Prince Charming (a.k.a. Prince Robert), played by Nicholas Galitzine.

Cannon, the scribe who also brought us Pitch Perfect, spoke with Entertainment Weekly the same day the photos dropped, explaining this version of Cinderella is an updated and modern take on the old-fashioned story, and it will resonate a lot more with young women today.

“I was someone who wasn't really that attracted to the Cinderella story. I kind of thought it was just a bunch of women being mean to each other,” Cannon said. “It was a great opportunity to show this loved, iconic character that is Cinderella in a way that's more relatable to what girls and young women in particular are going through, where they can really see themselves.”

The writer also directed the upcoming film and as she explained to EW, she wanted to break free from traditional tropes. That included writing a genderless Fairy Godmother (Porter), and creating a “beta” version of the Prince—whose life evolves after meeting his princess. “In this story, everybody around Cinderella learns something from her and changes,” Cannon added.

According to the release, “Cinderella is a musically-driven bold new take on the traditional story you grew up with. Our heroine is an ambitious young woman, whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow, but with the help of her Fab G, she is able to persevere and make her dreams come true.”

It’s exciting to see the photos for another reason too: this is the first time the world gets to see Cabello’s acting skills. True, the “Havana” singer brings it in her music videos, but Cinderella marks her official acting debut.

“She's going to surprise everyone, because nobody's ever seen her act before,” Cannon said in the interview. She's so fantastic. "She's so good, and she's so natural, and just funny and beautiful and really, really talented.”

In addition to Cabello, Porter, Mendel and Corden (who also produces), Cinderella stars Minnie Driver as the queen and Pierce Brosnan as the king, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer as Cinderella’s stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, and John Mulaney and Romesh Ranganathan as Corden’s fellow mice/footmen.

Cinderella drops worldwide on Prime Video this September.
