Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas announced the nominations for the 93rd annual Academy Awards this morning. The nominees were revealed during a global live stream on Oscars.com, Oscars.org and the Academy's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages.

Priyanka and Nick appeared in the two-part presentation this morning that covered all 23 categories for the upcoming Academy Awards.

David Fincher's Citizen Kane origin story Mank leads this year's nominations with 10 nods in categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Gary Oldman and Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried. Other Best Picture nods went to The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Viola Davis has become the most nominated Black actress in Oscars history after being nominated this morning for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. She previously shared the record for the most nominated Black actress in the history of the Oscars, tied with actress Octavia Spencer with three nods each.

Davis spoke to Variety ahead of the Oscar nominations and reflected on the fact that this record should have been set a long time ago. “For me, it’s a reflection of the lack of opportunities and access to opportunities people of colour have had in this business,” she said. “If me, going back to the Oscars four times in 2021, makes me the most nominated Black actress in history, that’s a testament to the sheer lack of material there has been out there for artists of colour.”

In other "firsts," Minari's Steven Yeun is first Asian-American actor to be nominated in the Best Actor category and Andra Day's nomination for The United States vs. Billie Holiday is her first and means she's in the running to pick up an Oscar for her first acting role EVER. Additionally, this is the first time the Best Director category has included more than one female filmmaker with this year's slate including Chloé Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the awards show will take place on April 25, 2021, which is the latest date in the history of the Oscars. It was previously scheduled for February 28, 2021.
