It’s almost time! Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to hit Crave this Thursday on March 18. This is Snyder’s re-edited version of 2017’s Justice League

For those who don’t know, Snyder stepped away from Justice League in May 2017 following the death of his daughter, Autumn Snyder, by suicide. Snyder and his fans began to raise money and awareness for mental health initiatives following the tragic loss.

What is Zack Snyder's Justice League?

The Snyder Cut is set after 2016’s Batman v Superman. We won’t reveal too many spoilers but just know that Batman and Wonder Woman put together a team of heroes to take on Steppenwolf and his troops in the search of the three Mother Boxes.

The Snyder Cut will run 4-hours long, packed with footage shot during Justice League filming that fans have never seen, along with some new footage, shot last year, of Jared Leto's Joker.

The new film will also dive deeper into the backstories of all the main characters with an added focus on Cyborg, Aquaman, the Flash, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Hippolyta and Martian Manhunter.

The Snyder Cut cast includes Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Amber Heard, Jared Leto, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Jason Momoa, Ciaran Hinds, Diane Lane, Ezra Miller, Joe Manganiello, Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons. That’s a lot of cast but it is a four-hour long movie.

Take a look at the latest trailer below.

What Snyder says about the film

Snyder revealed to etalk’s Chole Wilde that he’s actually never seen Justice League’s original cut. “As far as I know, there’s really one version of the movie and it’s really the one that you’re going to get to see on the 18th,” he said.

Snyder is “super excited” for fans to see his cut. “They made this happen. Without them, we wouldn’t be here for sure talking. To them, I’m truly grateful. I’m super grateful also to the work they’ve done for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. It’s incredible… In a lot of ways, the movie’s secondary to that work. Hopefully, the movie is like a love letter or a thank you for that.”

The director said that the cast was as stunned as he was that the Snyder Cut was really going to happen. “They were incredibly supportive and they’ve been amazing along the way. I thank them too because their voices volumized this whole movie."

In November, Snyder used the #UsUnited hashtag to celebrate the first trailer and the anniversary of Justice League. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa also used the hashtag to support the filmmaker and his advocacy efforts.

Jason posted himself as Aquaman with #USUNITED overlayed on the image. "I am deeply connected to the Synder ohana supporting and spreading awareness is the least I can offer please take a look LINK IN BIO," Jason captioned his post, adding, "We’ve created this official tribute site, as many continue to be inspired by Autumn, offering their support to the important work of this foundation."

He said that it's important to destigmatize conversations surrounding mental health and suicide awareness and prevention. "We are honoured by the amazing way Autumn’s legacy has inspired so many to dedicate their efforts and resources to helping others when they need it most," the actor added.

Snyder said that the pandemic has been "really brutal on a lot of people's mental health" due to all of the isolation. "I just hope that this is an opportunity, even just cinematically, as a way to come together and sort of be in a community,” Snyder said.
