Gal Gadot is set to continue saving the world on the big screen. The Wonder Woman actor has just signed a deal to star in the upcoming spy thriller Heart of Stone, which is described as following in the footsteps of action franchises like Mission: Impossible and James Bond.

According to Deadline, Gadot has inked an eight-figure payday for her latest role, which bumps her up to the elite list of the world’s highest paid actresses. In addition to Gadot, Heart of Stone will also have an impressive team working behind the scenes to create the new thriller world. Director Tom Harper, whose previous work includes Wild Roses and The Aeronauts, will be behind the camera for Heart of Stone. The script will be helmed by two writers who are experienced in crafting successful female fronted films.

Allison Schroeder, who earned an Oscar nomination for the 2017 historical film Hidden Figures, will write the script along with Greg Rucka, who adapted his comic book The Old Guard for the 2020 film by the same name. The Old Guard starred Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne and Chiwetel Ejiofor and was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Following its release, The Old Guard quickly became one of the most successful films released through Netflix.

Heart of Stone will be produced by Skydance Media, a company that is no stranger to creating hugely successful thriller franchises. Skydance has partnered with Paramount Pictures to release the highly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick. The company is also behind the next two installments of Mission: Impossible.

Skydance Media has yet to release a synopsis for Heart of Stone, but what we do know is that Gadot will have no trouble playing a believable lead in an action spy film. The Israeli-born actor enlisted as a combat instructor during her mandatory two years in the Israel Defense Forces. Following her time in the military, Gadot has taken on several action roles, including that of Gisele in Fast & Furious and Diana Prince, a role she’s played in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and 2017’s massive superhero film Wonder Woman.

Gadot is set to reprise her role as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman 1984 later this month. The highly anticipated sequel reunites Gadot with director Patty Jenkins and actor Chris Pine, who will reprise his role as Diana’s love interest, Steve Trevor. Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen will also be back to play Diana’s mother and aunt. Kristen Wiig is set to join the cast as Cheetah and Pedro Pascal will play Maxwell Lord.

The release of Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed several times. Originally slated to arrive in theatres in December 2019, the film was continually rescheduled due to the ongoing pandemic. In November, HBO Max announced that they are premiering the new action film on their streaming platform the same day Wonder Woman 1984 will premiere in theatres. Gadot and Jenkins confirmed the news on their social media pages and encouraged fans to see the sequel in theatres. On November 18, Jenkins tweeted that U.S. movie chains are working on allowing people to rent theatres to be able to see the film with their pod.

On December 2, Gadot posted a video on her Instagram page announcing that fans could now begin ordering their tickets to see Wonder Woman 1984 in theatres. While we appreciate the actor’s support of movie theatres, which have been devastated by the pandemic, as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in North America, the thought of sitting inside a closed theatre with strangers doesn’t sound super at all.
