Wonder Woman’s Diana Prince is already able to fly through the air, grab a speeding bullet with her hands, use her lasso of truth to force bad guys to reveal their plans and now it appears she can also bring back the dead. Or, at least see people we thought were dead? Or it’s all a dream? It’s not clear, but what is clear is that the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 is here and Chris Prince’s Steve Trevor is very much alive and rocking a fanny pack. We guess he would be caught dead in one.Gal Gadot is back and stronger than ever (prepare to be heavily inspired) in the highly-anticipated first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, with the actress appearing alongside director Patty Jenkins this past weekend at Comic-Con CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil where the women premiered the trailer. Jenkins was behind the camera for the 2017 Wonder Woman film and her partnership with Gadot helping to break box office records and earn praise from critics and fans. This time around, Gadot and Pine are making the mid '80s look cool and are joined by two very worthy adversaries in Kristen Wiig and Narcos breakout star Pedro Pascal.
Wiig’s glow-up as Diana’s friend and archaeologist Barbara Minerva into the human-cat hybrid Cheetah is teased in the trailer as the two women bond over love. Pascal is almost unrecognizable in his turn as Maxwell Lord, a character Jenkins told the crowd in Brazil was "the king of Informercials," according to Entertainment Weekly. She added "He’s selling a dream to the public. He’ll do anything to be successful, but sometimes when you get what you want, greatness comes with a price."

Gadot said that this time around, the audience is going to find Diana Price feeling lonely and isolated. "In the first movie, we got to establish the story of Diana becoming Wonder Woman,” Gadot is quoted as telling the Comic-Con crowd. "In this movie, we’re going to find Diana in 1984. She’s quite lonely. She lost all of her friends over the years, and she’s doing what she needs to do. She’s doing her calling. She’s helping mankind and saving them—until something crazy is about to happen to her."That something crazy could be the return of her love, Steve Trevor. The pilot famously died in the first Wonder Woman film, which makes Chris Pine’s return in the new movie a bit of a head-scratcher. According to Jenkins, Pine’s addition to Wonder Woman 1984 is integral to the story and not a gimmick. “I can't tell you [how he is alive], but here's what I will say: We didn't put Steve Trevor in this movie because we just wanted to put Steve Trevor in this movie. When we thought of the story for this film while we were making the first film, a Eureka moment came and it couldn't have been told without Chris Pine playing Steve Trevor,” Jenkins told fans in Brazil . "So, I promise you, it's not a gimmick. It's integral to the story. It's incredibly important that we had him, and we just super-enjoyed it. It was great having Chris back, but it's also important to the story that I can't wait for you to see."Fans can see Gal and Chris’ reunion for themselves when Wonder Woman 1984 hits theatres June 5, 2020.
