For quite some time now, Hollywood heavyweight and Grammy award winning rapper Will Smith has been putting a lot of effort into his social media channels. On YouTube, the man definitely knows how to vlog it like it’s hot, and he sometimes makes appearances on wife Jada Pinkett Smith's afternoon Facebook show called Red Table Talk. His own Instagram has been getting special attention too, and it’s obvious that Will is definitely one of those celebrities who takes a special interest in curating his content.Lately, his followers and fans have noticed he’s growing quite the beard. The man is 51 years old after all. But seeing as how he’s been a household name for over 30 years, it’s hard for some fans to picture our fresh-faced Fresh Prince with anything other than a smooth cheek.  With comments on the ‘gram spiralling, Will decided to address the hirsute-controversy in quintessential Will Smith fashion.

Who else lettin’ their beard grow out?!

“I been reading all the comments,” he said in the IG video filmed presumably on his phone, “and all ya’ll talking crazy ‘bout my  beard! Don’t know why ya’ll acting surprised, I been rocking a beard forever!”[video_embed id='1875819']RELATED: Will Smith admits he was jealous of Jada Pinkett and Tupac[/video_embed]Cut to a super movie mashup of all of his most iconic characters, superimposed with a greying beard: he clearly had a beard in I, Robot , and in Men in Black, and even 30 years ago during the first season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Hmmm. How about that. And we may not remember him in The Pursuit of Happyness with a beard, but look, there’s the video evidence. And even his son Jaden Smith, who was 8-years old when he co-starred in that movie, also had a beard! Just goes to show how wrong we all were and we can do nothing but apologize.Naturally the cute IG video made purely to make us laugh ended with Will looking a bit suspicious, hoping none of us would catch on to the epic ruse, but frankly Will, we like you with the beard. You look regal. Dare we say it, you look like a PRINCE.IG army, just let him live his best life, will you?[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: This hamster won't let his size stop him from reaching his dreams[/video_embed]
