We kinda prefer this celeb version of 'Imagine'

Look, we totally understand how a collection of some of your favourite celebs sweetly singing an inspirational ballad penned by second best Beatle, John Lennon, could move people to tears. But for some of us the rendition was a bit, well, treacly. Maybe even a little tone-deaf.Then it was just… everywhere. On our Twitter feeds, in our Instagram stories, and worst of all stuck in our heads to the degree that only the most persistent of earworms can be (especially that part where Sarah Silverman goes full on American Idol contestant in her attempts to hit the high notes). Not that he wasn’t asked. The singer/songwriter appeared on his IGTV series, Current Mood, for a mini installment recounting his failure to follow instructions for the ‘Imagine’ singalong. Did it really happen? Maybe. Do we care? No, because Mayer’s version is just so damn funny.Claiming to have misunderstood the assignment, Mayer shared the video of his contribution to the project… in which he sings lyrics from a different song with the same title. Namely: the Ariana Grande hit of her recent album Thank U, Next. The results? Gold. And credit to Mayer for pronouncing Gal Gadot’s name correctly, too.
