From 2012 to 2019, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made us howl with laughter as the fictional Vice President of the USA Selina Meyer on the critically-lauded show Veep (all seasons are currently streaming on Crave), a role which won her a whopping six Primetime Emmy’s.  Now that the 2020 US Presidential election has been decided, and a woman Veep is no longer the stuff of fiction, Julia couldn’t help but share a little tribute to Senator Kamala Harris, whose VP-win marks an historic milestone.“’Madam Vice President’ is no longer a fictional character. @KamalaHarris,” Julia posted on her official Instagram, along with a portrait of Senator Harris smiling from ear to ear in front of the stars and stripes. We are just living for this.

Harris’s VP win not only marks the first time a woman has been elected to the second-highest position in office, but also the first time a Black woman and a woman of Indian descent holds the office. Another notable first is her husband, attorney Doug Emhoff, will be the first ever “second gentleman.”[video_embed id='2072975']RELATED: The historical significance of Kamala Harris as America's vice president[/video_embed]The former Seinfeld star, for her part, has never made any secret of her love of the Biden-Harris ticket. On Saturday. after it was announced that Joe Biden had officially won the 2020 US Presidential election, Julia baked a Joe cake, and made sure she did it for the ‘gram.
She also encouraged voters last week to stay in line at their polling stations after revealing that she “could not be happier” to have voted for Joe Biden.
Julia also recently took a few jabs at the current POTUS Donald Trump during a February appearance on Ellen, where she was asked whether Trump’s outspoken nature and controversial administration makes her miss playing VP Meyer on Veep.
“Well, it does and it doesn't," she smiled. "I have to say, I think he's doing a better job of our show — except to say that it in fact isn't even remotely funny. But it does make me miss it. I mean, it was super fun. It was just hard to compete with that crap.”Also, back in August, when Julia moderated the final night of the Democratic National Convention, she took some expert comedic jabs at current VP Mike Pence and the GOP’s deliberate mispronunciation of Senator Harris’s name, in what many think is coded racist language.“Our current Vice President, Mika Peince. Or is it Paints?" she joked in a skit with former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang. "Some kind of weird foreign name?”Now is the time to revive Veep, Julia!
