Following the news the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made the seriously questionable decision to leave the relative, government-funded safety of tranquil Vancouver Island for Southern California (one of the places hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic), none other than President Trump has weighed in on the couple’s leap across the border. While the Canadian government had announced that it would only pay for Harry and Meghan’s security detail until the end of this month (tax payers have been footing the bill to have the RCMP on guard since November of 2019), the U.S. government, according to Trump, won’t be dishing out a single penny to protect the couple.Previously, the royal pair had made it clear that they wouldn’t put down roots in the U.S. until Trump was no longer president. It’s not inconceivable that the statement contributed to the lack of a warm welcome for Harry, Meghan, and little Archie.[video_embed id='1931042']RELATED: Meghan and Harry are making movies on social media.[/video_embed]In a tweet posted yesterday, Trump expressed his admiration for the Queen, while making it clear that her grandson and his wife would be covering all their own costs while in California, including the cost of a security detail. Harry, Meghan, and Archie left the palatial house they were renting on the Saanich Inlet of North Saanich, British Columbia for another rented property in Malibu, where they are looking to purchase a more permanent home. The cost of covering their security (wherever they may be) is estimated to be somewhere in the millions. To that end, the couple have been sussing out opportunities for gainful employment — okay, branding — in order to fund their futures. Markle is doing voiceover work for Disney and contemplating the relaunch of her popular lifestyle blog after the pair’s attempt to trademark ‘Sussex Royal’ was quashed by the Queen. In a classy and drama-free response to Trump’s tweet, Harry and Meghan’s team released the following statement: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made."[video_embed id='1929892']RELATED: Meghan Markle wants to relaunch blog and write cookbook[/video_embed]
