Trevor Noah calls Donald Trump the Tiger King President and it's pretty spot-on

Bad news: COVID-19 isn’t the only viral menace sweeping across the country. We’re also being plagued by a guy who calls himself Joe Exotic and his docu-series, Tiger King. And while Joe may be new to our TV screens, to the Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, he’s a very familiar character. In Noah’s newest installment of his taped-from-home Daily Social Distancing Show, the comedian draws some eerie parallels between the megalomaniacal Joe Exotic and another reality TV personality — one that went on to become the current President of the United States.“Tiger King Joe Exotic isn’t just one of the weirdest people you’ll ever meet in your life,” quips Noah, who recently binged the entire series. “He could also be the president of the United States.”The late night host goes on to run through a list of character traits that the Tiger King and POTUS have in common (beyond an affinity for the colour orange) — everything from needing to be at the centre of attention to both men’s propensity to confuse fact with some pretty far-out fictions.[video_embed id='1784286']RELATED: Roy Wood Jr. tells us what it’s like working with Trevor Noah[/video_embed]In particular, Noah poked fun at Trump’s bragging over his recent press conferences ratings and the President’s inability to recognize that there might be a reason for the high viewership — one that goes way beyond his charm and good looks. For example? The fact that the country is trying to survive a pandemic and a recession at the same time.There is, of course, one major obstacle standing in the way of an Exotic presidency: Joe is currently locked up in prison and is just starting his 22-year-long sentence for multiple charges including a failed murder-for-hire plot against his Big Cat rival. In short, we’ll have to wait a while for this nightmare scenario to even have a chance.The upside to a Joe Exotic presidency, posits Noah? At least we’d get to see some cool tigers.
