While we’re well-versed in Tom Hardy’s affinity for canines, the British actor apparently likes kids, too. Well enough to return to the BBC’s toddler-centric channel, CBeebies to read a half-dozen children’s books beginning late this month. What’s even more surprising is that this isn’t the actor’s first bedtime story rodeo. Back in 2017, Hardy set aside his The Dark Knight Rises villain voice to read a series of tales including There’s a Bear On My Chair and You Must Bring a Hat. With his dog Woody by his side, Hardy’s Bedtime Stories were the most popular among viewers (both big and small, we’re guessing). And that’s saying something, because the list of other celebs who’ve stepped up to read includes A-listers like Rosamund Pike, Damian Lewis, and Ewan McGregor. Beginning on April 27th, the Dunkirk and Mad Max: Fury Road star will tackle a completely different kind of material than his usual fare, setting aside action scripts for stories like Hug Me by Simone Ciraolo, Don’t Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton, and There’s A Tiger In The Garden by Lizzy Stewart (okay, that last title actually sounds like the right job for Hardy).[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Tom Hardy wants Spider-Man and Venom to face off[/video_embed]Naturally, Hardy will be joined by his new canine companion, Blue, an adorable grey French Bulldog that Hardy adopted when his beloved pal Woody passed away in 2017. The actor’s opening monologue has already been made public: “Hello. I’m Tom,” he says, “Sometimes, on a day like this, I feel strong and happy. But on other days, I just need somebody to give me a hug. Tonight’s bedtime story is all about a little cactus called Felipe, who just wants a hug too.”If anyone out there is not swooning at this point, you may want to check your pulse.
