Making a marriage work requires effort from both parties and the distribution of work, whether it’s physical, mental or emotional, can often become uneven. That was the case for Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, but thankfully the couple were able to communicate their concerns and have found a new balance that works for both halves of the famous pair.Brady was a guest on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday and discussed his marriage to Bündchen, revealing that the couple had hit a major roadblock in their partnership. “A couple of years ago, she didn't feel like I was doing my part for the family and she felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house. And all of a sudden, when that season ended, I'd be like, 'Great, let me get into all my other business activities, let me get in to my football training,' and she's sitting there going, 'Well, when are you gonna do things for the house? When are you gonna take the kids to school and do that?' And that was a big part of our marriage, that I had to like, check myself because she's like, 'I have goals and dreams too...so you'd better start taking care of things at the house."[video_embed id='1911701']RELATED: Gisele Bündchen doesn’t like to be called a stepmom[/video_embed]The former New England Patriots quarterback said that Bündchen had to be vocal about her unhappiness in their marriage because Brady did not see the issue. “Her point was, ‘Well, yeah, of course this works for you. It all works for you. But it doesn't work for me.’”

Brady said that it was two years ago when he decided to make a big change in his career, which included not putting football ahead of his family. "I gotta take care of things in my family because my family, the situation wasn't great. She wasn't satisfied with our marriage. So, I needed to make a change in that,” said Brady.Speaking to Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers, Brady said that Bündchen wrote him a very ‘thought out letter’ that he keeps in his drawer and continually revisits. "It's a good reminder for me that things are gonna change and evolve over time. What happened and what worked for us 10 years ago isn’t going to work for us forever,” said Brady. "There's family decisions that are made and I think most men want to focus on their career, and it's very easy for men to focus on their career. I think maybe the benefit of playing football is that there’s an off-season. You’re not the CEO of a company and have to work year-round.”Brady also talked about the rocky start to his relationship with Bündchen, which began only a few weeks before Brady found out that his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan was pregnant with their son. “We were forced into this very important thing that was happening in our life at a new part of our relationship,” said Brady, who added that he didn’t plan on having children until his football career was done. “In a lot of ways, I found out a lot about Gisele through this experience. She found out a lot about me." Brady said the experience was difficult for everyone but added that his now-12-year-old son Jack was his best gift. “My heart explodes when I think of him. He's the greatest kid you could ever ask for."
