It has to be hard to live your relationship in the spotlight, and it has to be even harder when things fall apart in the public eye. Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are reminding fans everywhere of that right about now, as side stories following their
separation announcement earlier this week continue to surface, proving that there really are no winners in a divorce.Despite the original Instagram post the couple shared saying they were bringing their relationship to a “loving conclusion,” the court documents are painting a slightly different picture. According to
E! News, which obtained such papers, Cutler is reportedly blocking Cavallari’s attempts to buy a new house for herself and their three children by holding up the necessary finances. According to the documents, Cavallari first started to look for a new place to live in fall 2019, but then she and Cutler decided to try and work on things instead. Eventually,
according to the publication, “they realized the attempt to reconcile was not working and knew a divorce was inevitable.”[video_embed id='1948044']RELATED: Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are getting a divorce[/video_embed]While the world only learned of the separation on April 26, it seems as though the couple has been trying to figure out their conscious uncoupling for longer than that. In March they started speaking about divorce and that’s when Cavallari resumed her search for a new home. According to the reports she assumed that would be okay because that was what she and Cutler had agreed on last fall. Now the conversation has shifted and the pair are trying to figure out what’s the best custody agreement for the kids. In the meantime they’re both living under the same roof, which according to the lawyers may be problematic.“Wife does not believe that it is in the best interest of either party or their minor children to reside in the same household... Wife fears that if the parties are required to remain in the same residence, it would be an unhealthy environment, causing irreparable harm to their minor children,” the papers say. “Husband makes inappropriate statements to and about Wife and attempts to draw her into an argument in front of their minor children. Now that Husband has announced he will not leave so Wife can exercise parenting time with the children, Wife fears the situation will escalate.”If
A Marriage Story taught us anything it’s that lawyers fighting for their clients can often turn things ugly in a divorce, so while the paperwork sounds heavy it’s perhaps worth a reminder that the couple is still putting on a united front on social media and not commenting on the matter further. “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,”
they said in a joint statement. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”Previously, Cavallari and Cutler were together for a decade. They married in June 2013 with a ceremony in Tennessee and have since had three children together, Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and 4-year-old daughter Saylor.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Grandson makes TikTok video with grandma even while physical distancing[/video_embed]
