Apparently 'Hot Girl Summer' is making way for 'Moustachioed Man Autumn.' We were minding our own business celeb-watching when a startling trend seemed to emerge—at nearly THE EXACT SAME MOMENT IN TIME, The Weeknd was
debuting new facial hair in Toronto at TIFF Ashton Kutcher was flaunting the very same trend on
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Of course Kutcher got Twitter's attention in May when he took the witness stand in a murder trial and despite the serious nature of the business at hand, the
'70s detective jokes came fast and furious. Both gentlemen are sporting full classic moustaches and they're not the only ones—Nick Jonas, Bradley Cooper, Adam Sandler and more celebs have opted for the distinctive facial hair recently. It's not even close to Movember, you guys! Are we into it? Are we appalled? Are we confused? In an effort to make an informed decision, we've curated a list of all the celebs opting for the statement 'stache so far this season. The list is... longer than you would expect.
The Weeknd
You know,
we actually don't hate this. Abel is giving off a real Motown vibe with this 'stache and honestly, our homeboy looks happier than he's looked since... well ever. Keep doing you, Mr. The Weeknd. It's working.
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton stopped by Jimmy Fallon Monday night to stroke his 'stache, admit he doesn't look good with it and call it his new "lip jewellery" (which is probably the most egregious nickname we've ever heard for anything). He also told the "kinda crazy" story about how it came to be. Basically, he shaved his full beard into just a moustache for Adele's 1970s New Year themed birthday party but wife Mila Kunis got the theme wrong and it was
actually a 1930s New Year themed birthday party. Now, Ashton's keeping it as a "spite-stache" to get back at Mila but she's decided she likes it so now he's stuck. And so are we.
Bradley Cooper
Thankfully, Bradley showed up clean-shaven to the
Joker premiere Monday, but just a couple weeks prior, he was rocking a full 'stache of his own. The star was photographed in Disneyland with two-year-old daughter Lea at the end of August and fans compared the impressive facial hair to that of famously-moustached man Jeff Foxworthy. There was speculation that it was for a role, but since he's cleaned it up already, it's unlikely.
Nick Jonas
Yes, not even former teen heartthrobs are immune to the compulsion to experiment with the 'stache. In a newly-released portrait for his upcoming film
Midway, Nick is sporting his own thin, yet expertly groomed, "lip jewellery." The hair appears to be the finishing touch for his character, WWII gunner Bruno P. Gaido. Honestly, a man named Bruno in the '40s
would have a moustache. Carry on, Nick.
Lil Nas X
Lil Nas X is so busy being cool, we often forget that the guy has had a moustache as long as we've known him. The piece is so subtle and thin—it's just part of his image. Don't @ us, but Lil Nas' whiskers might be our favourite on this list.
Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler has had an on-again-off-again relationship with his moustache for the past few years, growing it for roles like
The Meyerowitz Stories and
Murder Mystery and then shaving it off for press. He's currently got a full mustache while he premieres
Uncut Gems at TIFF after wrapping filming on
Hubie Halloween.
Eddie Murphy
Eddie Murphy is another celeb whose moustache is essentially part of their personality. Eddie Murphy without a mustache is like Tom Selleck without a moustache... or Sam Elliott without a moustache... or Lionel Richie without a mpustache... or... you get it. The reason we mention Eddie Murphy on this list is because
he hit TIFF this week with a 'stache that seems fuller and more prominent than ever. We respect the commitment.
Anthony Mackie
Anthony often sports a sharp goatee but it seems he's opted for a different look heading into TIFF. The
Avengers star is taking a page out of APPARENTLY EVERYONE'S book and trimmed up just enough to send us from "nice look, Anthony" to "we're so confused about our own feelings."[caption id="attachment_4466996" align="alignleft" width="960"]

Taika Waititi
Likewise, fellow MCU alum Taika Waititi is getting experimental in Toronto. What is it about Canada that's making all these stars test out the 'stache? Is it the
slightly cooler climate? Is it the different timezone? Is it the altitude? We need answers! Or perhaps the
Jojo Rabbit director-writer-star wanted to keep some of the facial hair that he had while shooting the film but making sure he strayed far away from the character
he played.
Trevor Noah
Sure, no one shaves regularly while on vacation, but on his recent trip to Japan,
Daily Show host Trevor Noah's vacay look appeared to be very moustach-y. He returned to the show clean shaven on Tuesday, but we remember... we'll always remember.
Milo Ventimiglia/Jack Pearson
Milo himself might be clean shaven most of the time, but everybody's favourite TV Daddy sure isn't. As we eagerly await the September 24th return of
This is Us (but who's counting?) by watching the
season four promo on loop, we can't help but get pumped for the return of Jack Pearson and his glorious moustache. Maybe there
are some moustaches we're 100 per cent into.
Robert Pattinson
RPatz kept it clean at TIFF but
he's in Toronto promoting a film where he sports one of the most imposing moustaches on this list. In
The Lighthouse, Robert has a full handlebar 'stache that he
insists he grew entirely himself. Honestly, it's impressive.
