The teaser trailer for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s documentary has just dropped

“When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, we have been anxiously waiting for more tea. And now the Sussexes have given us our first glimpse at what their private, behind-the-scenes lives are like.

They have been working for quite some time on a documentary for Netflix, called Harry & Meghan, about their unique circumstances and story, especially since they took a step back as senior members of the royal family, and now the teaser for the documentary has  just dropped.

“No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” the Duke of Sussex narrates as private black and white photographs flash before the screen. Several never-before-seen images of the couple in private moments are shared, such as them kissing on a kitchen counter, kissing in a photobooth, Meghan cradling her pregnant belly, and even a striking photograph of Meghan  supposedly crying as she covers her mouth with her hand.

“When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” she tells the camera.

The docu-series will drop on the streaming giant on December 8 and is directed by Liz Garbus. The Duchess previously told Variety that working with Garbus meant working with someone she trusts and admires. She also said the docu-series will follow her romance with Prince Harry,  from the early days in Toronto while she was filming Suits, to the present day, telling The Cut it will show, “the piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see … our love story.”

The teaser also seems to suggest the trailer will follow the couple  as they navigate the racism they’ve endured not just from the British tabloids and Piers Morgan, but also from within Buckingham Palace. Speaking with Oprah last year, Meghan and Harry revealed that members of “the firm” asked about the colour of their children skin, and that any requests Meghan made about mental health support were denied. She bravely revealed that she contemplated suicide at that time.

The teaser trailer drops just on the heels of another racism royal scandal, with a senior member stepping down from her royal duties after she repeatedly and offensively questioned the ethnic and national origin of a British national because her skin was Black.

Meanwhile, it would seem fans are marking their calendars in anticipation of December 8
