For years, there has been a supposed “feud” between model Hailey Bieber and singer/actress Selena Gomez, simply because they happened to date the same guy named *checks notes* Justin Bieber.

While intense fandom loves to pit women against each other (Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry), Hailey and Selena are proving that they are not the catfight type. Over the weekend, during the  2022 Academy Museum Gala, not only did the pair pose for pics, they wrapped their arms around each other for a massive embrace.

Hailey and Selena, folks. That’s it. That’s the tweet.

Photographer Tyrell Hampton posted this snap of the ladies to his official IG account with the caption “plot twist,” and we are forced to agree.

We love that these women can rise above any (perceived or real) feud and show that “catfights” are a misogynistic trope that should remain in the past. Their series of pics comes a month after Hailey was interviewed on that notorious “Call Her Daddy” podcast where she emphatically shot down any suggestion that her relationship with the “Peaches” singer began whilst he was still dating Selena.

"When him and I ever started, like, hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship,” she told host Alex Cooper. “Ever, at any point. It's not my character to mess with someone's relationship. I would just never do that. . . . I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody — that's the end of it.”

The model and YouTuber also spoke candidly about the timeline of events that led to their marriage: namely, that Justin and Selena, who originally dated from 2010-2013, got back together a few years later, only breaking up in early 2018, a few months before Hailey and Justin married. That, she says, is something that causes a lot of speculation in the rife fandom. 

"The timeline, also that I think sometimes is in question, of us getting together and getting engaged and him having been spending time with his ex before that, “ Hailey explained. “ . . . this is so crazy, I've literally never talked about this ever . . . I understand how it looks from the outside.”

She continued, "But that was a situation where I know for a fact that it was the right thing for them to close that door, they were not in a relationship at that time, but of course there's a very long history there and it's not my relationship, it has nothing to do with me, so I respect that a lot, but I know that it closed a chapter and I think it was the best thing that could have happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married, and move on with his life in that way."

Selena must have heard that interview to warrant such a warm response. In fact, the internet is simply NOT READY for this level of solidarity and sisterhood.
