Scarlett Johansson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson don’t seem to have that much in common, but it’s safe to say the stars should be poppin’ bottles together right about now. That’s because the actors have officially topped this year’s
Forbes magazine’s highest-paid actors list.ScarJo, who had quite the banner year on the big screen with her double-Oscar-nominated
A Marriage Story and
Jojo Rabbit (not to mention her own soon-to-be-released MCU solo flick), supposedly pulled in $56 million in 2019. (No word on whether that sum includes the
lavish $215,000 Oscars swag bag she received as a nominee.) Meanwhile The Rock was paid out an impressive $89.4 million before taxes thanks to his various films and wrestling work, making him the overall highest-paid actor in the industry. Let that be a lesson to all of the
Jumanji haters out there.[video_embed id='1897749']RELATED: The Rock's daughter will continue his wrestling legacy[/video_embed]The annual reveal included two separate lists for
male and
female actors, although when combined the numbers are pretty telling in terms of the ongoing fight for pay equity. Only two females made the overall combined top 10 list, with Johansson ranking eighth. Meanwhile the collective top 10 males’ payout nearly doubled the list of top-paid females: it’s a $600 million to $315 million ratio. So who else is on the list anyhow? Plenty of recognizable faces. On the male side of things, Johnson topped Chris Hemsworth’s $76.4 million and Robert Downey, Jr.’s $66 million. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar came in fourth with $65 million, Jackie Chan was middle-of-the-pack at $58 million, and Adam Sandler tied Bradley Cooper in the sixth position with $57 million. Chris Evans ($43.5 million), Paul Rudd ($41 million) and Will Smith ($35 million) topped the list. The lesson? Book a superhero or Disney movie to make serious bank.Meanwhile, Sofia Vergara was the second-highest paid actress on the female side with a salary of $44.1 million (makes it hard to knock those
shampoo commercials, huh?). Producer extraordinaire Reese Witherspoon came in third with $35 million, while her
Big Little Lies bestie Nicole Kidman earned $34 million. A
newly-51 Jennifer Aniston fell below that with $28 million, Kaley Cuoco continued her
Big Bang Theory payday at $25 million, and Elisabeth Moss came in seventh with a cool $24 million. Margot Robbie ($23.5 million), Charlize Theron ($23 million) and Ellen Pompeo ($22 million) rounded out the list. It’s worth noting that, while the big screen seems to be the place where most of these males are earning their dough, the women are faring a lot better on the small screen. Of the women who made the list, only ScarJo, Margot Robbie and Charlize Theron can list films as their predominant medium in 2019; the rest were major faces on the TV circuit over the past year.[video_embed id='1898955']Jen Aniston celebrates her 51st birthday with star-studded dinner[/video_embed]
