Modern Family may be coming to an end after 11 seasons, but Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter are proving that they’re (TV) sisters for life. The actors formerly known as the Dunphy sisters on the ABC comedy made headlines following the show’s wrap party on February 23, but not for their contributions to the series or because they said something particularly headline-worthy; haters, it seems, were obsessed with how much skin Winter was showing. It all started when Hyland posted a picture of her and Winter together in matching black dresses from the shindig. “I love these people with all my heart. 11 years together is proof you and your tv sister will start wearing the same outfit, sibling for life will be made, and you’ll forever fight over the same professor,” she wrote on Instagram, referencing one of the show’s storylines. “We’ll always be Dunphys and we’ll always have each other.”
The dresses weren’t exactly matching, it was more like they each picked their own LBD to wear for what was probably a super emotional night at the Sunset Room Hollywood in L.A. Hyland opted for a sleek number with spaghetti straps and a hip-hugging bodice, while Winter wore a sheer number that highlighted her stomach and thighs. It was pretty in line with
many of the 22-year-old’s fashion choices of late, but that didn’t stop the haters from making their own remarks in the comments section. Luckily, like the good surrogate sis that she is, Hyland was all over it.“What was she thinking …. seriously,” one user wrote, to which Hyland replied, “That she’s a sexy and confident woman. Everyone that is making a negative comment about my sister can back the f—k up because I WILL NOT tolerate it.” When another person asked, “What’s up with Ariel Winters outfit tho?” Hyland shot back, “You know that she’s [fire] I KNOW!”[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Ariel Winter got real about mental health and anti-depressants[/video_embed]Hyland’s fiancé, Wells Adam, also got in on the action, writing, “You ladies both look [hot]!!!,” but he wasn’t the only one. There were lots of positive comments as well, including one user who wrote that, “Literally the stylists on set must have had such a job trying to make Aerial [sic] look nerdy they deserve an award.” Another pipped up with, “Alex’s sexual awakening is hard on all of us…”Clearly. Winter has been on the series since she was 11 years old, which means she’s now been in the public eye for half of her life. And yet for some reason people have felt the constant need to
comment on her looks, all while she struggled with depression,
a breast reduction surgery, and a
less than ideal family situation thanks to her estranged mom. Then, when she lost a bunch of weight last year and felt confident to start wearing some of her more recent outfits, people seemed to have an opinion all over again. Basically, she’s constantly defending herself for one reason or another.“On Instagram, people see a photo every once in a while or they see something that a paparazzi took — they don’t know that person. It can get really frustrating when you see things that are untrue or things that are hurtful or even some things that are private things that don’t need to be out there,” Winter
told People last year. “If you don’t stand up for yourself, who’s going to stand up for you?”Sarah Hyland will, that’s who. Because TV or not, these two are clearly #SistersForLife.[video_embed id='1905422']BEFORE YOU GO: Channing Tatum and Jessie J share steamy pics on social media[/video_embed]
