In case you needed another reason to stock up on booze as provinces across Canada continue to encourage physical distancing and self-isolation after travel or contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, Ryan Reynolds has your back. The Deadpool star and his wife Blake Lively have been strong supporters of communities during the pandemic, and now he’s taking it one step further by throwing some cash to out-of-work bartenders. The actor announced on Twitter that until May 1, 30 per cent of every online sale of Aviation gin will be donated to the bartenders who have been forced out of work as restaurants and bars across North America have shut down to deal with coronavirus. Reynolds calls it “a tip to bartenders—who really miss you btw.” [video_embed id='1927603']RELATED: Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogen join PM Trudeau’s efforts to flatten the curve[/video_embed]Although Reynolds is a notable Canadian, his gin is only available for online purchase in the United States. That means the donations will go to American bartenders only, through the U.S. Bartender’s Guild as a part of their new Tip Your Bartenders Program. (Canadians can still buy the gin through a variety of online retailers). Meanwhile Reynolds isn’t ignoring his roots—when he and Lively announced they were donating a million bucks to food programs on March 16, they included Food Banks Canada.“I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an asshole. If you’re able to help, visit, @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada,” he wrote on Instagram.Reynolds also heeded Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s call for Canadians to stay at home to help curb the spread of Covid-19 on March 24 by banding together with some of his fellow Canadian celebrity friends like Seth Rogen and Michael Bublé on social media. “I think we all know it’s the celebrities we count on most,” quipped the VanCity OG. “They’re the ones who are gonna get us through this... right after healthcare workers of course. First responders. People who work in essential services. Ping pong players. Mannequins? They’re great... look stay at home!”Like Ontario and Quebec, many states across America have shut down “non-essential” businesses which has put many people—like bartenders—out of work. To help kick things off and encourage customers to… well, buy more booze, Aviation Gin set the bar high with an initial donation of $15,000. Hear that, Hugh Jackman? It’s your move.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Working from home is tough with a cat this feisty[/video_embed]
