Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's years-long rivalry is still going strong, but now they're doing it for a good cause. The pair joined forces (in a way) for the holidays, which is "a time for forgiveness," and teamed up with Sam's Club to give back to their chosen charities this holiday season.Jackman's Laughing Man Coffee company and Reynolds' Aviation Gin are working with Sam's Club in a different type of "feud" for charity, which will raise money for both the SickKids Foundation and the Laughing Man Foundation. From November 10 through December 20, anyone (of age) can buy Aviation Gin or Laughing Man Coffee from Sam's Club locations — but choose wisely, because each purchase counts as a "vote" for Team Ryan or Team Hugh. Fans also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite team online without making a purchase. Voting online will enter fans in a draw for a chance to be one of five lucky winners who get to bring a guest to a virtual party with both stars. The only downside? You have to be 21 or older and live in the United States, but at least us Canadians can still enjoy the classic Jackman/Reynolds trolling that's happening to promote the contest."So a Canadian and an Australian walk into a Sam’s Club to help @sickkidsvs and #LaughingManFoundation. Cheers from @aviationgin and I guess, @laughingmancoffee #Hughmiliation," Reynolds captioned a video posted to Instagram to explain their charity-focused sales competition."Hugh forgive me.. for exposing you for the monster you truly are," Reynolds says in the clip. "And to everyone but Ryan, please forgive me for even engaging with someone of his emotional maturity," Jackson responds.Reynolds decides that "forgiveness sucks" and suggests that they let the people pick the winner between the two of them. "This holiday if you shop at Sam's Club you can side with me and affirm that Ryan is the canned cranberry sauce of human beings, but you'll also contribute to The Laughing Man Foundation which helps coffee farming communities around the world, " Jackman explains.Reynolds tells his followers to side with him "to send a message that, like mistletoe, Hugh just makes things awkward." The Deadpool actor adds that Sam's Club will help him provide funds to the SickKids Foundation.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Ryan Reynolds reveals being Canadian is his 'greatest asset'[/video_embed]The pair, who first starred alongside each other X-Men Origins: Wolverine, decide that holidays aren't about forgiveness but "as always it's an emotional brawl with friends, loved ones and hated ones." The winner of the contest will get to hold it over the other's head because Sam's Club has already pledged to donate equal amounts to both charities on December 20.
This week has been full of feuds for Reynolds and it's only Tuesday. Canadian actor Simu Liu came for his fellow Canadian superhero with a diss track that was also for a good cause. Both superheroes are participating in the AGBO Superhero League presented by FanDuel, which is a charity fantasy football league created by Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo. The league features many stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing for $1 million that will be donated to their selected charities based on their standing in the league.Liu, who is Marvel's first Asian superhero, posted his Reynolds diss track on Instagram, captioning it: "Ordinarily I would never dream of trash talking Canadian treasure @vancityreynolds... but this is the @AGBOLeague presented by @FanDuel, and we’re playing fantasy football for a million bucks towards our charity of choice. I’m sorry Ryan... but your smack down has arrived. Better call @timhortons cuz this roast just got DARK!!!!!"The Kim's Convenience actor starts his track off by being super Canadian and apologizing to Reynolds before he spits his insulting yet complimenting bars like "actor, producer, there's nothing you can't do. My Asian mother wishes every day that I was you" and questions how to "smack talk the golden child of Canada.""I might be the new kid but I'm here to stay. They call me master of kung fu. They just call you Wade. Now I'm a big fan of Deadpool I don't mean to be blunt but Deadpool's CGI man, I do my own stunts," Liu raps. He even says "it's over Pikachu get back in your Poké Ball," referencing the 2019 movie Pokémon Detective Pikachu which Reynolds starred in.He tells Reynolds that Shang-Chi's coming for the number one spot and warns him that his team is going to flop. Reynolds has not responded to the diss track yet but he usually doesn't turn down a public feud, especially for charity.
