Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend but
Black Diamonds are just epic. Or at least they are now that Janet Jackson has revealed that to be the title of her brand new album and accompanying world tour. It’s basically the news fans have been waiting for since the 2015 release of
Unbreakable. The 53-year-old icon (is it appropriate to call her anything less than that?) announced the big news on February 10 with an Instagram post, which seems to have become the official way to announce such things to fans. “Hey U Guys! I’ve heard all your wishes and now from my lips to your ears,” she wrote. “I’m working on my new album and going on a brand new World Tour this summer! Both titled
Black Diamond.”
This marks the 11
th studio album for the “Rhythm Nation” queen and
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, which is a number that officially surpasses Michael Jackson’s 10. It’s also the first time fans will hear new music from the singer since her summer 2018 single, “Made For Now.”“Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut. I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy,” Jackson continued in the post. “There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength. I love u guys so much and I’m #SoExcited to share this new era with you. See u soon!”[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Kid flawlessly pulls off Michael Jackson dance moves at talent show[/video_embed]The announcement has clearly been a long time in the making, because with it Jackson revealed the first batch of dates while dropping the frantic news that tickets go on sale February 13. She’ll kick off the tour in Miami at the end of June, and hit up Toronto on July 22 before coming to Vancouver exactly a month later on August 22. European dates and additional venues will be announced in the coming weeks. It feels as though it’s been a hectic few months for the “That’s the Way Love Goes” singer. She’s obviously been busy working on new music while hitting up the Vegas strip for her residency show,
Metamorphosis, all while
doling out fashion awards and suffering
a terrible concert review in Australia. And then there’s that whole motherhood thing, which she’s doing
without a nanny, by the way. Can’t stop, won’t stop. Maybe that should be Jackson’s official tour motto, because it seems like nothing is going to keep this
Black Diamond down.[video_embed id='5542710113001']BEFORE YOU GO: Paris Hilton Believes Sex Tape Prohibited Her From Reaching Princess Diana Status[/video_embed]
