Priyanka Chopra is ready to welcome her millions of fans into her inner circle. Or at least that’s what she promises now that she’s finished writing her first official memoir, Unfinished. The 38-year-old actor and Bollywood star revealed the cover for her book on October 2, announcing that it is now ready to pre-order.“Ironically, I named this memoir years before I started writing it. Having been a public person now for 20 years, with so much life to live and a long list of things to check off my list personally and professionally, I am very much #Unfinished,” she revealed on Instagram. “BUT the funny thing about writing a memoir is that it forces you to look at things differently, reconciling so many things you thought you had put to bed. In doing so I’ve realized that being ‘unfinished’ has deeper meaning for me, and has in fact been one of the most common threads of my life...”
Chopra has been polishing off the memoir during her time in quarantine, something that she tells People kept her “sane” while she and husband Nick Jonas hunkered down away from the spotlight. Not that the memoir began as a quarantine project though. “I had started this conversation with [publisher] Penguin Random House two years ago when I knew that I was heading towards 20 years of being in the entertainment business,” she told the publication. “It seems like the right time to introspect on my life, that was my reason for writing the book. And I think I cursed it when I called it Unfinished, because it took me two years to finish it!”[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Priyanka Chopra’s beauty secret: confidence[/video_embed]In the book, which Chopra explains she would craft following her workouts while “Nick [was] busy doing his own thing,” she opens up about personal stories from her childhood and her early days in the spotlight. To piece it together she relied heavily on her mother and even some of her past teachers."There's literally every year of my life in this book, which is why I'm so nervous," she continued to People. “This is me baring open, from the time I was a kid to when I got into pageants and what that felt like as someone who had no experience of the pageant world, and then being thrown into the Bollywood system and wanting to change my career path in my 30s, which is [a time when] girls are told it's beyond our prime to start all over again. I've had to push against the norm a lot through my whole life, and I discuss that in-depth.”Chopra also reveals that while she’s led a very public life, this book is about what happens in between those interviews, shows, movies and pageants. The things that happen when there are no cameras to capture the moment, a.k.a. moments that Chopra says she’s previously been pretty guarded about. "[There are] things that fans may have always wondered why I have not commented upon," she adds. "This book helped drop the curtain and share my vulnerabilities."Of course fans couldn’t possibly expect to read this book without getting some insight into Chopra’s high-profile relationship with Jonas. Luckily for them Chopra promises to open up about that, too. “There will definitely be insight on this extremely important chapter in my life,” she said. “My partner is one of my greatest pride and joys. He is a true partner in every sense. There's a big insight into our wedding, our love story, into my life before Nick and my life now.”Romance, her upbringing, some of her professional challenges and highlights… it sounds like Chopra has had some pretty full years for sure. But at the end of the day what she truly hopes to achieve from releasing this memoir out to the world is to empower other women to follow their own paths and to know that they too can achieve great things in this world—no matter what their age.“While you’ll definitely learn about how I became me during the ‘in between’ of what you haven’t seen, I also hope you’ll walk away with the confidence of knowing that IT’S OK to pick up, walk away, leave things unfinished, and move on to what’s next if that’s what your journey requires to get to the next destination,” she added on Instagram. “We all have a different story to tell, this is my story, and I am #Unfinished.”Sounds like fans better get their pre-order on now in order to get a copy of this tome in their hands by the January 19 release date.[video_embed id='2030335']BEFORE YOU GO: Cat attempts daily hilarious attack on mail carrier[/video_embed]
