There is a new royal baby on the way! Buckingham Palace has just confirmed that Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child. The couple, who were wed in 2018, are reportedly due in early 2021. For those trying to remember their royal family line of succession chart, Princess Eugenie is currently tenth in line to the throne, which will bring her bundle of joy in at spot number 11. Still counts!Using a baby face emoji (so modern!), the Kensington Palace Instagram page confirmed the pregnancy news on September 25. Sharing a picture of Princess Eugenie and Jack from their October 2018 wedding, the caption read “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021. The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Eugenie also celebrated the news on her Instagram account, posting a picture of herself and her husband of two years smiling at the camera and a second one of the couple holding tiny bear slippers. “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021,” wrote Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter.Eugenie has already received thousands of likes on her pregnancy announcement and well wishes from her famous friends, including Ellie Goulding, Kathy Hilton, Natalie Imbruglia, Misha Nonoo, and brother-in-law Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. In July,
Mozzi married Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, in a scaled-down wedding after their larger May ceremony and reception was canceled due to Covid-19.
As is tradition the royal family, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack have not revealed the gender of the baby. Thanks to a 2013 ruling, their child’s line of succession won’t be affected by their gender. The Succession to the Crown Act stated that if a male heir is born after a female, he no longer has claim to his older sister’s spot in the line of succession. Who run the world? Well, the royals actually don’t have that much power anymore, but girls! When the couple’s new baby arrives, they will likely bring it home to Ivy Cottage, which is located only a few feet away from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s home they share with their three children on the grounds of Kensington Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not been in their home for months, choosing instead to isolate at Anmer Hall in Norfolk near the royal family’s Sandringham House on Sandringham Estate.William and Kate have yet to publicly congratulate their cousin on her exciting baby news, but likely will in the coming days. Princes Eugenie has previously made headlines for baby news back in 2018 when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
reportedly revealed their pregnancy to members of the royal family during Eugenie and Jack’s wedding. Maybe they just didn’t want to appear rude for not toasting with champagne?Eugenie’s baby news is a welcomed positive distraction from what is been a tumultuous 12 months for her immediate family. The daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, has watched as her father has become embroiled in one of the biggest scandals to hit the royal family thanks to his involvement with sexual predator and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. In November 2019, Prince Andrew stepped down from his royal duties as a result of his involvement with Epstein and ensuing disastrous interview with the BBC over allegations that he sexually abused Virginia Roberts when she was only 17.[video_embed id='2036116']BEFORE YOU GO: Alanis Morissette is 'unschooling' her three kids[/video_embed]
