Prince Harry has been back in his native U.K. for the past week after speaking at an event in Scotland about eco-tourism, and he cleared some time in his schedule for his ‘granny.’ With only a few weeks left as ‘His Royal Highness,’ (still) Prince Harry is making the last of his appearances as a full-time working member of the royal family before he and wife Meghan Markle make their exit from royal life on March 31. But before things become official, Harry is hoping to mend familial fences, starting with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.“The Queen had a lot to talk to Harry about and this was the ideal time for them to both say their piece,” a source close to the royal family told The Sun of Harry and Queen Elizabeth’s four-hour meeting, which included sipping and spilling the tea. “When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit, it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned. Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment, and they were both able to speak their mind.”[video_embed id='1911369']RELATED: RCMP to stop providing protection for Harry and Meghan[/video_embed]The insider added that while the Queen is sympathetic to Harry and Meghan’s situation, her priority is keeping the monarchy intact, a fact royalists and fans of The Crown know well. “There has always been a willingness to consider,” said the source. “The queen is always there to talk about family matters, but when it comes to matters of monarchy and the institution it’s not off the cuff. It’s not just a case of popping over for tea to discuss it.” The source added that the Queen did make it clear that Harry, Meghan and Archie are very loved and will always be welcome back. He must have served some really good scones with the tea.According to The Sun, Harry and the Queen met on Sunday at Harry and Meghan’s Frogmore Cottage, the home they will retain even after the March 31 deadline. One of the new caveats of their agreement to exit the public life of the royal family is that they must now pay back the Sovereign Grant that was used to make improvements on the home in 2019, so it’s nice to know that Harry is at least getting some value out of the new kitchen cabinets by entertaining the Queen Mother. At the time of the renovations, Harry and Meghan paid out of pocket for improvements to the interior, but the exterior renovations cost $3.05 million, an amount the couple will now reimburse to public funds.Frogmore Cottage is located on the Queen’s estate in Windsor and became the primary residence for Harry, Meghan and their son Archie in April 2019 (Archie was born in May soon after the couple moved in). Moving into the home, which was far from the prying eyes of the London paparazzi, was a bid to keep the couple happy in the U.K. and still close to the monarchy but proved to be not enough of a selling feature. Real estate is all about location, location, location, and in this case, the best location appears to be Vancouver Island. The five-bedroom house works well as a spot for Harry and Meghan to meet privately with distinguished guests. Back in November, Meghan entertained Hillary Clinton at her home during the former U.S. Secretary of State’s visit to the U.K.Meghan is expected to join Harry in the U.K. this week for an appearance at the Commonwealth Day celebrations on March 9, which will mark the pair’s final appearance with the rest of the royal family before March 31. Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Queen Elizabeth will all be in attendance for the ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London. Hello Magazine has confirmed that Prince Andrew will not be present at Monday’s ceremony, because even a family as famous as the monarchy can only handle so much drama for one day.[video_embed id='1912886']RELATED: Meghan Markle is attending the Met Gala[/video_embed]
