Pete Davidson may play up his reputation as a laid-back stoner, but the SNL cast member knows when it’s time to get down to work. Appearing on Hot Ones with Sean Evans, Davidson was asked about some of the most extravagant gestures celebs have made while on the show. When Evans referenced the time when guest host Drake brought in celebrity chef Bobby Flay to cook a gourmet meal for the entire cast, Pete revealed that he was more irritated than impressed by the act.“It was kind of annoying, because it was like, during writing night,” Davidson explained with a laugh. “We were in the middle of working on his show and he was like, ‘Yo, Bobby Flay is here,’ and we were like, cool, dude, we have like, f******g 20 hours to put all this s***t together.”“He interrupted the homework,” Evans assessed.Pete quickly agreed, noting that the rapper’s intentions were good though. “He’s very sweet, it was very nice, but it was the wrong time.”
The episode quickly went from laughter to spicy hot tears (and so, so much sweat) as Davidson struggled with the wings of death. “I’ve gotta be honest with you, pal—I’ve been better,” Pete told Evans, wiping sweat and tears from his face with a napkin. “I’m really having a rough time. I’m gonna do it, but I might pass out.”The conversation took a surprising turn when Davidson spoke gleefully about his love for Keanu Reeves, calling himself “a very big fan” while explaining that he bought a Shane Falco jersey online (the football player Reeves' character wears in The Replacements). Noting that he’s been a fan since “before the wave,” Davidson enthusiastically detailed the plot of Knock Knock, a 2015 horror film that involved Keanu being kidnapped and held prisoner by two younger women. Happily shouting a quote from the film (“What did you expect? It was free pizza!”), Davidson cracked up and added, “ever since then, I’ve been the biggest Keanu Reeves fan.”[video_embed id='1909384']RELATED: Pete Davidson says he’s outgrown SNL[/video_embed]Bursts of sympathetic laughter could be heard from off-camera as the spice level ramped up, Davidson downing several glasses of oat milk while twisting uncomfortably in his seat. Still, the stand-up comedian remained affable throughout the clip, cracking jokes and remarking on Evans’ ability to stay cool as he worked his way through the same spicy journey. “You gotta get your head checked,” Davidson chastised Evans. “And that’s coming from me!”Visibly relieved as the duo reached the last wing, Davidson laughingly berated his performance on the show. “Am I the worst?!” he asked, as Evans shook his head and insisted he was one of the best. “I am embarrassed and mortified.”[video_embed id='1913092']BEFORE YOU GO: Ben Affleck on how much on his own life influenced his character in 'The Way Back'[/video_embed]
