Nicole Richie is a rap star now

Nicole Richie used to be the butt of our jokes when she starred alongside heiress Paris Hilton in The Simple Life in the early 2000s. Take the rich daughters of singer Lionel Richie and a hotel magnate and put them in the country where they have to milk cows and pluck chickens all day long, and laugh at their inability to function outside Calabasas. Now, Nicole Richie is in on the joke as she becomes “Nikki Fre$h” (yes that dollar sign is how you spell it), a rap trap artist out here to bring attention to green initiatives.  All hail our new satirical kween!The “Nikki Fre$h” show, available only on the new streaming service Quibi (where all the shows have to be under 10 minutes), follows the antics of the eponymous trap artist as she tries to release her music “consciously.” Hmm, a “conscious trap artist” doesn’t exactly make much sense, but as she describes it herself, her music is for “everybody. Teachers, rabbis, Virgos . . . but mostly moms and gays.”Hold up. Did she just say “Virgos?”  Hard pass. (JK, we love you Beyoncé). [video_embed id='1935459']RELATED: etalk Explains: Everything you need to know about Quibi[/video_embed]In her episodes, Richie, who in the past has been a reality TV star, an author, and a fashion designer, tries to save the bees and live a clean lifestyle with songs such as, “Bee’s Tea,” and “Get Ugly 4 Tha Veggies,” that were produced with the help of her husband rocker Joel Madden and brother-in-law Benji Madden.Filmed as a mockumentary, the satirical show follows this privileged trustfund gal (hmm, wonder where she pulled that idea from?) and her gay sidekick as they try to sell the industry on her music whilst also conducting market research on their green plans. In perhaps the funniest clip we’ve seen, Richie Fre$h declares, “Wellness has a new voice – a black voice.” When her gay sidekick seems confused, she clarifies, “Me.
