The ‘rona just keeps coming for all of the best celebs. Tom Hanks,
Dwayne Johnson, and now Neil Patrick Harris are among the popular actors who have spoken openly about contracting COVID-19.Harris revealed that not only did he have coronavirus, but his husband, David Burtka, along with their nine-year-old twins Gideon and Harper, had it as well earlier this year. The 47-year-old made the
reveal on the Today show on September 15, saying that the entire family has since recovered but this thing was definitely not pleasant."It happened very early [in the pandemic], like late March, early April," he shared. "We were doing our best before, and I thought I had the flu, and I didn't want to be paranoid about it. And then I lost my sense of taste and smell, which was a big indicator, so we holed up."Part of the reason Harris is speaking up about having the virus now is to help spread awareness to the rest of America, and to make sure people continue taking the pandemic seriously. “It was not pleasant, but we got through it,” he continued. “We want to make sure everyone’s doing their best to slow this down every way possible, for sure.”Since the pandemic hit (and shut down most of North America) in March, Harris, his family, and their dogs have been self-isolating like many other people. In May the
How I Met Your Mother alum
shared a video of his kids playing a virtual game of
Go Fish with their grandparents, and in June Burtka revealed in a birthday post for his husband that quarantine has made the family closer than ever.
“Every celebration we spend together gets better and better,” he wrote. “I am grateful for this quarantine because we've actually gotten to spend more quality time and it's brought us closer together. Thank you @NPH for being a fantastic father, a perfect spouse and an overall magnificent man.”Now that Harris and his family have recovered and things are opening back up, it seems as though the actor may be busier than ever. He recently appeared in
The Princess Bride recreation for Quibi; he starred as Bill Aucoin in the upcoming biopic
Spinning Gold alongside Michelle Monaghan, Jeremy Jordan, and Jason Isaacs; he’s filming a role in
The Matrix 4; and he’s also in pre-production on
Anita, AKA the story of the former beauty queen and singer Anita Bryant, who later made headlines for her anti-gay stance in the 1970s.Since the pandemic began many actors and performers have been among the
6.6 million cases in the United States.
Alyssa Milano, Jillian Michaels,
Robert Pattinson, Antonio Banderas,
Bryan Cranston, Mel Gibson,
Anna Camp, Tony Shalhoub, Pink, Daniel Dae Kim, Andy Cohen, and many more have revealed they tested positive for COVID-19 over the past six months. And, in July, 41-year-old Broadway star Nick Cordero
