After a whirlwind romance, it appears as though things are over between Riverdale actor Vanessa Morgan and Chicago White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech. On Monday, news broke that Kopech had filed from divorce from Morgan after only a few months of marriage. Even more shocking, news of their divorce comes just three days after Morgan announced on Instagram that she is pregnant. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Kopech initially filed for divorce on June 19 in his native Texas. News of Kopech’s filing had been kept under wraps from the media until yesterday. The Major League Baseball athlete’s filing preceded Morgan’s pregnancy announcement, which arrived on July 24. At the time, the pregnancy announcement and gender reveal did not seem out of place, but in retrospect it’s clear that Morgan was purposely not mentioning her soon-to-be ex-husband.“I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January,” wrote Morgan, who posted several pictures and videos from her gender reveal party. “This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose.”Morgan, who grew up in Ottawa and appeared on several kids TV shows, including The Latest Buzz and My Babysitter’s A Vampire, added that she will raise her son privately until he is old enough to consent to being in the limelight. “I have had the blessing of growing up in the public eye having started my acting career at age 6. While this has been incredible for me, I am very much looking forward to giving this little guy some room to grow up outside of the public eye, until he tells me otherwise,” wrote Morgan.

Morgan had already teased her pregnancy earlier this month. BTW new parents, it’s a must-read. It now appears that the ‘we’ Morgan was referring to was not her and Kopech, but the actor and her new baby.Kopech, who does not have a public social media account, has not made a statement about Morgan’s pregnancy announcement. A rep for Morgan confirmed to E! News that Kopech is the father.Morgan and Kopech initially met on Instagram and began dating in the summer of 2018. Morgan shared her first picture of the couple together on social media in July 2018, celebrating her return to Vancouver to film a new season of Riverdale. The couple were married this past January in a stunning intimate ceremony in Florida.
