Meghan Trainor is by her dad's side after he was hit by a car

Meghan Trainor is updating fans on a terrifying accident this past weekend that left her beloved father Gary Trainor in the hospital. The elder Trainor was crossing a busy road in Los Angeles on Friday night when he was struck by a car and sustained serious injuries.TMZ was first to report the accident, initially listing it as a hit and run and later updating the story to confirm that the driver of the vehicle did not flee and remained on the scene to help police. Gary was reportedly wearing dark clothing and was difficult to see while crossing the street in San Fernando Valley. He was taken to a nearby hospital and the incident is being classified as an accident.It appears fans were quick to notify Trainor of the accident after TMZ reported the news in real time. Trainor updated fans on her Instagram, posting a black and white picture with her father and captioning the image “I’m with my dad now. Thank you for all your sweet messages. It was all very scary but he is the strongest man I know.”

Gary has been instrumental in helping to guide his daughter’s entry into the entertainment world and providing her early backing back as a piano player when Trainor first began singing in church as a child. Both Trainor’s parents heavily encouraged their daughter’s love of music and accompanied her to songwriting conventions during her teen years.Trainor has spoken candidly about her tight knit relationship with her father, who has even helped produced some of her music.
