Mariska Hargitay is among many mourning ‘Law & Order: SVU’ crew member who lost his life to COVID-19

Golden Globe winner, Mariska Hargitay is mourning the life of fellow Law & Order: SVU crew member, Josh Wallwork. On Thursday, she posted a touching tribute to Twitter, expressing her heartbreak and love for her kind and funny co-worker.Wallwork’s passing was first announced on Facebook by Abdul Qadir, which was then shared on Twitter by showrunner, Warren Leight: “It is with permission of The Wallwork Family, and a heavy heart supported by loved ones, that I announce the passing of Josh Wallwork from complications of Covid 19.” Wallwork, who worked as a costumer for the NBC hit show, was 45.

Co-star Ice T also paid tribute to Wallwork on Thursday, later following up to show his grief and frustration over the growing cases of COVID-19 and people not taking social distancing seriously. He further expressed the brevity of the situation: “…Life must go on.. But make no mistake about it. This sh*t is serious. Stay safe.”Hamilton actor, Christopher Jackson and Madam Secretary star, Morgan Freeman also expressed their grief and sent condolences to Wallwork’s friends and family.

The Emmy Award winning crime procedural was picked up last year for its 21st season but was among the numerous shows that NBCUniversal ordered to close down production due to COVID-19 concerns. According to showrunner, Leight, the show had planned to produce 24 episodes this season but that due to the shutdown, the 20th episode may have to be the season finale.
