First the Oscars forgot Greta Gerwig and now it seems like they’re forgetting Amy March? The Academy Awards were having some technical (and admittance!) issues on Sunday night as the annual red carpet got underway. First, the magical people who make the carpet come to life battled actual elements when rain water leaked through and workers ran around with poles shaped like Q-tips, trying to push the water off the plastic coverings. But then the unthinkable happened, and one of the night’s nominees was actually asked for identification before she could enter.Yup rain or shine, security was real tight and they asked Florence Pugh—nominee for Best Supporting Actress—to flash her ID before she could enter red carpet territory. Wowza. The entire exchange was captured live on the etalk Oscars Balcony, where host Lainey Lui and Danielle Graham where just as surprised as everyone else watching and thought Pugh was handing the suited man a ticket at first. Not so. Maybe it was the actress’s youthful updo, or perhaps it was the fact that she was channelling her inner Amy March, but she was full-on asked for identification before she could proceed. (Naturally, Robert DeNiro just breezed on through moments earlier.)“Security’s tight here,” Graham joked. You can see the beginnings of the exchange around the 37-minute mark in the video below when Pugh arrives, but the actual identification part goes down about a minute later. The fact that Pugh was overlooked is all shades of embarrassing for the show, given that Little Women was nominated across six categories. The woman Pugh was with definitely looked less than impressed. But, such is life. In the end, as Louisa May Alcott herself wrote, Amy March got her due and wound up with popularity and a trip to Europe, so maybe this is a case of life imitating art.Especially now that Pugh is an official part of the MCU universe with her upcoming role in Black Widow alongside ScarJo, whom she was ecstatic to catch up with on the red carpet and definitely didn't require any official documents. And if you thought Natasha Romanoff was badass, just wait until you meet Yelena Belova. Maybe this time next year, that same security guard will be shaking in his boots when she struts on by.[video_embed id='1896512']Brad Pitt is actually a big 'Letterkenny' fan[/video_embed]
