Did a celebrity couple just confirm an engagement while in self-isolation? Well,
Stranger Things have definitely happened, but for now it seems like Lily Allen and David Harbour just really like teasing their fans. Allen took to Instagram recently to show off some mirror-selfie abs, but what really caught fans’ attention was the giant rock on her finger. Obviously, people were quick to point it out.“First rule of engagement club...." Allen wrote back to one person in the comments who wondered if things were finally official. Her spin the famous line from
Fight Club (“the first rule of Fight Club: you do not talk about Fight Club”) clearly means she’s not ready to talk about the sparkly ring on that special finger, which she’s been
wearing since late last year. But her response wasn’t exactly a denial. In fact, it could be considered a confirmation. It’s no wonder people can’t stop speculating over what’s going on.
This isn’t the first time the couple has sparked serious status debates with fans. Last month the pair had everyone wondering if they were actually secretly married after they did an Instagram Live chat together to talk about social distancing, and Allen accidentally called Harbour her husband after revealing her latest album only sold 5,000 copies.“I'm serious. That's how bad things are these days. You think you married a pop star? You didn't,"
Allen said. "Not that we're married. We're not married. I just want to make sure you know." According to
Just Jared, Harbour then jumped in to (not really) clarify with, “But she is my wife,” to which Allen replied, “Yes we do pretend.”Maybe part of their make-believe is wearing giant rings around the house? One thing is for sure, and that’s that Allen and Habour continue to be one of Hollywood’s most private couples. After all, they didn’t even make their red carpet debut until last January, when they stepped out together for the Screen Actors Guild Awards where Harbour was nominated for his work on
Stranger Things (he lost out to
Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage). They’d been dating for months before that, but preferred to keep their status on the down low… and relegated to social media where they can
make fun of each other."That's right, it's the brilliant, beautiful, brash, bold, brave and just f--kin' hot @LilyAllen," Harbour wrote on his Instagram stories that night,
according to E! News. “We told you things were good, right?”No one said they weren’t good, Harbour. They just want to picture a happy ending for you crazy kids already. In the meantime, one thing fans can be sure of is more Harbour in their living rooms in the near future. The fourth season of his Netflix series was confirmed last year, but production halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Harbour recently revealed that more of his character’s backstory will be revealed in the new season whenever it is ready.“We will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper's backstory, which we haven't really told you about,” he said in
a video from Liverpool Comic Con in March. “It's one of the things that I've known since the first frame of the first shot, and we haven't expressed it yet. And finally we're gonna express it in a big way.”[video_embed id='1954807']Before you go: Justin and Hailey get personal[/video_embed]
