It’s Instagram official—Lili Reinhart is bisexual. The Riverdale star took to social media this week to announce that she too is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and she wants to support it and the Black Lives Matter movement given recent events in the world. Now she’s encouraging her fans to do the same with her simple announcement.“Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman,” she shared in her Instagram stories on June 3 alongside a photo of a flyer for the West Hollywood LGBTQ+ for #BlackLivesMatter protest. “And I will be joining this protest today. Come join.” The actress followed up that post with several powerful videos from the protest, including one in which the crowd was chanting George Floyd’s name and his now famous words, “I can’t breathe.”[caption id="attachment_4938287" align="alignleft" width="960"] Instagram/@lilireinhart[/caption][video_embed id='1959656']RELATED: Five LGBTQ+ movies you need to see[/video_embed]The 23-year-old actress has shared her activism on Instagram over the past week or so, participating in #BlackoutTuesday on June 2 and sharing updates in her stories. Meanwhile the actress has also been consistently using her Twitter platform to help amplify the voices of black activists and to help educate her 3.1 million followers. She’s put out repeated calls for her fans to put her in contact with people working to bring the BLM movement to the forefront, while retweeting others who are speaking out. “I want to say that I am ashamed of the racism that exists in this country. We are taught to look at our police officers as helpful and friendly when we learn about ‘leaders’ in elementary school. Our ‘leaders’ have failed us today,” Reinhart wrote in a passionate thread on June 1. “I can’t begin to imagine the horror of worrying that you won’t be protected by your “leaders” because of the color of your skin. I know that white privilege exists and I could never fully understand what it’s like to be oppressed because of my race,” she continued. “I don’t have all the right words, but I stand by you. #BlackLivesMatter.”Reinhart isn’t the only Riverdale star speaking out following the death of George Floyd. Her ex-boyfriend Cole Sprouse recently revealed that he was among those arrested at a protest in Santa Monica, while co-star Vanessa Morgan called out Hollywood for the way black characters are represented. “Tired of how black people are portrayed in the media, tired of us being portrayed as thugs, dangerous or angry scary people,” she tweeted on May 31. “Tired of us also being used as side kick non dimensional characters to our white leads. Or only used in the ads for diversity but not actually in the show. It starts with the media. I’m not being quiet [sic] anymore.”[video_embed id='1969669']BEFORE YOU GO: Trudeau pauses before answering question on Trump[/video_embed]
