Leonardo DiCaprio's character in Titanic may not have survived but the actor is making sure that doesn't happen again on his watch. DiCaprio and his group helped find a man who had been in the Caribbean waters for hours after falling out of his own ship.Leo, his girlfriend, Camila Marrone, and their friends were on vacation on a rented boat near St. Barts on December 30 when an emergency call came in about a man who had fallen overboard from a Club Med yacht. It must've been fate because DiCaprio's boat was the only one in the vicinity (which was still hours away) when they abandoned what they were doing to search, and eventually locate and rescue the exhausted man. And they did so at the perfect time — right at dusk as a storm was closing in."Leonardo played a blinding role in his own real-life Hollywood movie," a source told The Sun. "He saved the life of a man overboard who incredibly had survived by treading water for 11 hours. Leonardo's boat was the only vessel looking for him." The insider said the captain of the ship "put the man's chances of survival at one in a billion — like winning the lottery twice." But alas, he fared significantly better than Jack Dawson. The man, known only as Victor, was a crewman on the ship and was drunk when he tumbled over the side of his ship near St. Martin. When Leo's boat found him, he was severely dehydrated and had been treading water for nearly 11 hours.[video_embed id='1870476']RELATED: Brad and Leonardo charm on a candid episode of Marc Maron’s ‘WTF’ podcast[/video_embed]"They were the only responders, and his only chance of survival, despite being hours away," detailed the insider, who added that the man was minutes from drowning. "He had been treading water and still managed to flail his hands as Leonardo came near. It was not long before daylight disappeared, and there was a giant rainstorm closing in. The man was doomed. He thought he was dreaming after being rescued by one of the world's most famous faces."Just over a week later, Leo's vacation was over and he was at the Golden Globes. DiCaprio might not have won for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but his co-star Brad Pitt did, and he gave him quite the shoutout in his acceptance speech. While Leo's previous week's heroics weren't mentioned, his time in the water back in his good ol' Titanic days was.
