Samantha Marie Ware’s first TV gig was a recurring role on the megahit series, Glee that spanned 11 episodes of the show’s sixth and final season. It probably should have been a dream job but Ware says that her co-star, series lead Lea Michele, made her time on set a “living hell.”
Michele, who played Rachel Berry on Glee, shared a tweet this past weekend expressing her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and calling out the injustice of George Floyd’s death. And while there was nothing wrong with her post in the eyes of the average Twitter user, to Ware it reeked of hypocrisy. She quoted Michele’s tweet several days after it was posted, calling out her former castmate for treating her terribly on set and making her rethink her choice to become an actor.

Ware did stick with acting, adding shows like God Friended Me, What/If, and Chicago Med to her CV but it’s obvious that the way she says Michele treated her has obviously continued to cause her distress. And it seems as though she isn’t alone in her complaints about the series’ star. Ex-Glee club members Amber Riley and Alex Newell also popped up on Twitter appearing to support Ware’s accusations. Dabier Snell made it crystal clear that his memories of Michele weren’t particularly warm and fuzzy.
I try to bring good vibes and create content for ppl to laugh and enjoy! Seeing her message brought back bad memories of being less than on set of glee. Ain’t goin stand for her being fake like she care.

It should be noted that all four former cast members are Black, which might be the central reason that they took particular offence to Michele taking up space in the conversation about Black Lives Matter. Viewed through their eyes, the message of support looks disingenuous.
