Larry David says 'Stay home!'

Plumbing emergencies only. That’s comedian Larry David’s singular exception for interacting with another human being during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need a plumber, go ahead and put in that call — just be prepared to lysol your entire house afterwards. In cooperation with the Office of the Governor of California, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star has released a public service announcement in which he cajoles viewers to practice extreme physical distancing to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. So far, the clip has over two-and-a-quarter million views (because, what else do we have to do really, besides scrolling through Twitter until we’ve clicked on every single link and video in our feed?).David addresses “the idiots out there,” in the typical misanthropic fashion his TV persona is known for, but underneath the joking around lies a serious message about protecting others from the disease, even if you feel like you might not be susceptible yourself. “You’re hurting old people like me,” he says, or you would be if he ever left his house and deigned to mingle with those aforementioned “idiots.”David cites his own show as evidence that only bad things can come from leaving the safety and sanctity of one’s own home.
