Looks like that extended family vacation in the Bahamas might not have been the blissful trip for Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler that fans thought it was. Because now, just weeks after returning to Nashville, the former Laguna Beach star has shared that after a decade together and three kids, she and the former Chicago Bears quarterback are consciously uncoupling.“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Cavallari announced on April 26. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.” Proving that they are very much on the same page, Cutler shared the exact same statement on his own Instagram account.
Considering Cavallari was basically the table-dancing villain to Lauren Conrad’s good girl on Laguna Beach (and to a lesser extent later on during The Hills), fans agreed she’d come a long way. However, those same fans also picked up on a bit of strife in Cavallari and Cutler’s marriage following the second season of their reality series, Very Cavallari. At the time Cavallari cut off her friend Kelly Henderson after rumours surfaced that she had cheated with Cutler. However, everyone involved denied those claims and in the show’s third season, which recently wrapped, the couple seemed to be somewhat back on track. The season was very much about Cutler adjusting to dad life following retirement, as Cavallari showed the world just how business-minded she could be. Still, according to People the split was a long time coming, and in fact these two had already come to their decision back before they were soaking in the Bahamas sun.“Kristin and Jay had been having problems for a long time. They hadn't spent much time together in recent months,” a source told the publication. “On their recent trip, they already knew they were splitting up. The reason they announced it now is because it’s a quiet time for them to work through all of this and try to move forward.” Quite true— E! hasn’t announced whether their series will return for a fourth season and people everywhere are under stay-at-home orders. It’s pretty much the perfect time for celebrities like Cutler and Cavallari to hide out and figure out their stuff. Like what they still have in common, maybe?According to that same source, the split indeed had nothing to do with the cheating rumours, but everything to do with a lack of common interests and hobbies. “Kristin and Jay are a lot different. She has so much on her plate, with her brands and with the show,” the source added. “Jay is not as interested in all of that. She's so passionate about her work and they couldn’t relate to each other as much. So it pulled them apart.”This isn’t the first time the reality stars have called it quits: Cutler and Cavallari had been dating for only a year when he proposed back in April 2011, but they split three months later. Obviously they realized things were better together shortly after though, because they wed in 2013. Since then they’ve had three kids: Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and 4-year-old daughter Saylor.[video_embed id='5565455585001']Before you go: Kristin Cavallari Addresses Infamous Pic of Jay Cutler's Backside[/video_embed]
