Call us sentimental but the willingness of small children to offer help in a time of crisis is more than a little bit heartening. Exhibit A: Kristen Bell’s kids, who were inspired by their famous mom to contribute to No Kid Hungry, a charitable organization working to ensure that children who might depend on things like subsidized school lunches don’t go without while everyone is doing the mandatory schools-closed social-distancing thing.Bell wrote a cheque to the organization, in the amount of $150,007.96. But it’s not quite the round number one might expect and with good reason.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Stars of ‘Frozen 2’ admit they told their kids all the movie’s secrets[/video_embed]The organization shared its gratitude in an Instagram post calling out Bell's financial support: “Thank you for helping us send out even more grants to schools and community groups working to feed kids during the #COVID19 outbreak.”And it’s those last few numbers, the seven, the nine and the six, that are the most meaningful part of Bell's big donation. That’s the amount that her two daughters Lincoln, 6, and Delta, 4, added to Bell’s original donation of $150k. Raiding their piggy banks for the remains of their allowance money, the kids topped up their mom’s donation, giving it everything they had. Bell shared their sweet contribution on her own Instagram account.
"When my kids overheard me making the donation, they asked if they could also donate the money from their piggy bank," she shared on Instagram. "I couldn't have been prouder to add that extra, and important 7 dollars and 96 cents."The grants provided by No Kid Hungry will go to schools and community groups doing outreach to families in need of support during a time when businesses are closed and people are struggling to pay their bills. It's encouraging that Bell kids, whom she shares with husband Dax Shepard, are doing what they can to help out and joining the growing chorus of philanthropic efforts during the pandemic.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Gal Gadot and famous friends sing ‘Imagine’ to inspire hope[/video_embed]
