There’s no doubt that Kristen Bell is a cool mom but even she looks for guidance from other parents and counts fellow celeb mom, and amateur Instagram cooking show host, Jennifer Garner as a source of knowledge and trust.Speaking to etalk in Toronto ahead of the Canadian launch of her all-natural baby essentials brand Hello Bello, Kristen pegged Jen as one of her go-to mom pals.“She’s been one of my guiding lights for a long time,” Kristen said. “She’s an incredible, incredible woman. I have so much respect for her—I’ve asked her advice before. A lot of people feel that about her and I can tell you from experience, spending time with her, it’s because it’s real and authentic.”Oh we know, Kristen. We could watch these two chat all things parenting for hours—that hilarious #Momsplaining episode wasn’t nearly enough!
Jen’s organic baby food brand, Once Upon a Farm, was also a huge inspiration for Kristen when she and husband Dax Shepard (ever heard of him?) were creating Hello Bello. Like Garner, who is a mother of three along with co-parent Ben Affleck, the couple wanted their brand to provide high-quality baby products for an affordable price while also giving back to communities.“Being someone who doesn’t have to worry about putting food on the table, I fully recognize that I wouldn’t necessarily know what to do if I had to choose between my baby and my budget,” Bell explained. “That is a very real problem for a lot of people living on earth. So the goal with the company was to keep the price point really low but… maintain the premium ingredients and make sure it was safe and healthy and effective for the planet and the babies.”

Kristen explained that with their “for profit, for good” model, Hello Bello, which recently became available to Canadians online and will hit retailers in 2020, also works with local charities in New York and California to donate baby items to those in need.

"The Secret Sauce"

Kristen’s obviously not doing it alone. In addition to the strong moms around her, she’s got life-and-business-partner Dax around, too.“My husband and I love working together,” the Frozen 2 star said. You may really they co-starred in 2012's Hit & Run, which he wrote. “Not only has it been fun because this was something we both wanted to do—to create a company to make things easier for parents—the secret sauce is that we actually get to work on it together. People like working with their spouse or they don’t,” she added. “For me personally, I chose him to be my spouse because he’s very fun to hang out with. I trust him more than I trust anyone."

The Not-So-Secret Relationship

Kristen maintains that while her kids are off-limits—their faces are blurred on all social media—she and Dax like to keep it real in the public eye. His wildly successful podcast Armchair Expert, for example, is often a source of deeply personal stories involving his rocky road to sobriety, their marriage and any and every topic in between. But Kristen said that she's willing to endure some embarrassment and make their lives an open book if it benefits the greater good.“When we first got together, we were very territorial and private and very shortly we realized, ‘Wait a minute, we’re all monkeys.' We look to other people to set an example of how to be,” she said. “If we’re open and honest and talk about our flaws … maybe everyone will feel a little less shame and a little more happiness.”[video_embed id='1820988']RELATED: Kristen Bell and her 'Frozen 2' co-stars are still blown away by the fandom[/video_embed]With files from Joanna Adams
