Katy Perry announces pregnancy in new video

Katy Perry definitely has a knack for getting her fans’ attention, and she’s done it once again with her latest music video for “Never Worn White.” The 35-year-old pop star officially announced her pregnancy in the artistic piece, which dropped on March 4, confirming rumours that she is indeed expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom.In the video, which is a sweet love song to her betrothed about tying the knot, Perry wears—what else?—white, while lovingly caressing her new baby bump. A snippet announcing the video’s release earlier in the day had teased the pregnancy, and had left KatyCats in an uproar (especially since the teaser also featured Perry in a floral getup, giving off vibes of Beyoncé’s floral-filled pregnancy announcement in 2017).Thankfully, as soon as “Never Worn White” dropped, the singer also took to Instagram live to chat with fans and answer their pressing questions, admitting “There’s a lot that will be happening this summer.”

“Not only will I be giving birth, literally, but also figuratively to something you guys have been waiting for,” she continued, referencing new music. “I am excited. We’re excited and happy and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I like to tell you guys everything but I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music because that’s how I speak to you.”Busy is probably an understatement when you add in two rumoured weddings (including a destination ceremony) for the couple. It’s going to be a busy year for Perry and Bloom indeed, especially now that a second season of Bloom’s Amazon Prime series, Carnival Row, is on the way, along with that animated royals show he signed up for earlier this year. It’s a good thing he got that tattoo with his son’s name fixed when he did, because time and sleep may be limited resources for these two in the very near future. Speaking of Flynn, the nine-year-old has been good practice for Perry, who is about to become his stepmother. (Bloom shares his son with his ex, Miranda Kerr.) She opened up to Ellen DeGeneres on her show back in September about how having Flynn in her life has drastically changed her schedule (she wakes up before 11 a.m. now!), and how he’s influenced her to grow up a little. “I guess this has definitely matured me. I guess this is adulting,” she said. “That’s why I still dress like a child, to fight against!”Considering this baby is due in the summer, it seems like Perry still has some time to continue figuring out this whole adulting thing.
