Katy Perry and Orlando’s love may be in full Bloom, but they just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to planning their wedding. The day after Perry revealed to the world that she’s
expecting her first child with the
Pirates of the Caribbean star, sources say they’ve had to stall their wedding plans, again, as a result of the rapidly spreading coronavirus. The pair have been super secretive about their plans, which were already postponed once in order for the couple to get the venue they wanted.
According to Us Weekly, Perry and Bloom have been planning one small ceremony and a larger destination wedding. Now fans know that the destination wedding was scheduled to take place in Japan, but with all of the concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading, that’s on hold. “It was all set for Japan with 150 guests. Katy was actually really excited about walking down the aisle pregnant,”
a source tells People. “They were both so elated that all the wedding details were finally coming together, but they are hitting pause because of coronavirus.”Given that Perry is rumoured to be about five months pregnant (she’s due to deliver over the summer), wanting to avoid a virus that people still know relatively little about makes sense. Especially if they were planning on going to Japan, where there are
serious concerns that the number of cases has been under-reported.
E! News reports that, although Perry “had her heart set” on Japan, they’re now “considering moving the plans to the U.S.”[video_embed id='1915375']RELATED: Katy Perry is pregnant[/video_embed]Their wedding isn’t the only thing on hold. Coronavirus has not only tanked stock markets, shut down film sets, and caused a slew of concert cancellations, but it was also
recently announced that the newest James Bond film,
No Time to Die, is pushing its release from April to November. Production company MGM is
supposedly taking a $30 million hit as a result. At least Perry and Bloom still have lots to celebrate. In addition to their upcoming nuptials (wherever they wind up being) and the pregnancy that Perry announced in her music video for “Never Worn White,” the couple continues to be busy with a bunch of different projects. She’s still judging on
American Idol while making new music, while Bloom stars in the recently renewed
Carnival Row on Amazon Prime and has also landed a new gig in
an animated series about the royals.
In a new interview with SiriusXM, Perry opened up even more about the pregnancy, confirming that it was “not an accident” and that it was totally planned. “I’ve just been trying to create this space in my own life where I’m not running myself too ragged and creating space for something new to happen like this,”
she said.Meanwhile Perry also revealed that fans can continue to see her thrive on a professional level even as she enters that next phase of life: motherhood. That’s because she has zero plans of putting her impressive career on hold. “I’m sure it will be an untraditional way, but look, I’m joining the force of working moms out there,” she added. “And that is a very strong force. And I love what I do and it doesn’t feel like work and it brings me so much joy, so I just want to continue that state of joy.”Cue KatyCats everywhere purring in joyful agreement.
